I call repaint. They only came in 3 flavors and that equally awesome speckled black was not one of them unfortunately. Decals are pretty easy to replicate with vinyl and ebay has some really good proper reps.
Gen. 3.0 cdale serial numbers were shallowly dimpled to the BB shell instead of being engraved/ milled in these days and could easily be filled over with a thicker coat of paint.

There's also another line of dimpled numbers on the NDS chainstay, but larger.
