It absolutely is different and I love mine. I'm switching to a 52/36 in order to have a bit more top end, but that's only because I'm also upgrading to 11spd so I'll have an 11-28 spread. A 34/26 will get you up absolutely anything, and it's honestly pretty rare to need much higher than a 50-11 though there have been a few occasions while racing where an extra gear would've come in handy.
I run a 52/36 11-28. I think I'm going to switch to an 11-26 cassette when I wear out the 11-28. I rarely drop down to the 36/28 and the 3 cog jump from 19-22-25 can be pretty annoying on the big ring with the SRAM cassette spacing. 11-26 gets you the same spacing up to 19 and then 2 tooth jumps from 19-21-23.
