I totally agree!
In light of recent events* with literally the top female sprinter in the world (all time?), I think safety precautions should never be cut.
*(I'm not stating that her situation was the result of an inexperienced rider being on track with a top tier rider. I just want to illustrate that when things go wrong, the results can be very bad.)
