Townie Path 9D vs 27D

Besides the obvious 18 additional gears are there any other real differences?

The price for the 27 is cheaper than for the 9 which seems backwards to me and makes me think there might be other differences.

The LBS has a 9D which I rode and liked but considering ordering the 27D

The 27 would have an extra post welded to the frame for the front derailleur correct?

The Lectra website says the 9D has an alloy fork and the 27D has a high tensile steel fork. High tensile steel would be an alloy but I am not sure they are actually the same.

Is the frame geometry the same between the two? The 7D seems to have a more foot forward geometry than the 9D,
