What's the difference? Do you use different skis?

I did a little xc type skiing on trails in the mountains. Not enough to get good at it but I always wanted to do more. I did some snowshoeing, too. My ex and I would pack a picnic lunch and a camera and trudge through the forest. That was fun stuff.
