The area I grew up in had a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch, who tend to make all kinds of pickles, probably dating back to pre-refrigeration practices from The Old Country, but of course the Amish and Old Order Mennonites don't do refrigeration still, so they still pickle.
And then sell to "The English" who visit the area.
I didn't grow up here. I escaped here. I am of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, and grew up in Northern Ohio.
Some of my way back ancestors lived in @
datlas' neck of the woods. Others in eastern Pennsylvania. Berks County, iirc
