I recently rebuilt my 1992 Trek 950. It came to me with some so-so v brakes (origin 8) and mountain bike shift levers that gave up the ghost. I rebuilt it with Tektro CR 720 cantilevers, kool stop pads, thumb shifters, a trekking bar, and continental travel contact 26 x 1.75 tires. The wheels, derailleurs, headset and stem are all original.
I really, really like this bike. I find the trekking bar very comfortable and the conti tires are excellent. I like riding a vintage MTB on the paths and gravel roads near my home once fall starts.
