I am a lefty when it comes to wiping. Hanging it that way is more ergonomic. Reach across with the right hand palm and fingers turned up, pull out a lentgh and tear with the left hand.

When I was riding across the country we spent a night at this campground in MN. The stall walls were not equidistant from the toilets. Rather, they were skewed to the left so badly that my left arm and shoulder were up against the wall when sitting, forcing me to "go right."
