I did the Salem Gravel Grinder on Sunday, affectionately known locally as "Oregon's Perry Roubaix" (because it goes through a place named Perrydale). It's not a race and really not even quite an organized ride. One member of the local community just put up a website, mapped a route, negotiated with a local golf course to let a bunch of people park at their clubhouse and sent out invitations.
It was a pretty fun ride -- great people, nice scenery and a whole lot of gravel roads -- pretty much 50 miles of this:
