Actually, there are apparently only about 3 natural keytone bodies, I think, of which Acetone is the most common industrial chemical.

In particular, cycling has weight loss, and high intensity aerobic activity... in which one could easily exhaust glucose reserves.

Reading about toxicity, I think the acetone toxicity is relatively low, primarily irritation. Mental changes and intoxication?

Although, like with alcohol, it is possible to overdose.

I don't think I'll be trying it any time soon. If one does choose to make one's own drinks, verify the purity of the chemical, and probably mix it with something that would make it more palatable like grape juice.
