Back from our trip. The Townie did very well. My wife climbed to the top of Skinner Butte in Eugene and Mt. Tabor in Portland. Both climbs were effortless for her. I got a workout on my Surly...LOL
As far as range goes, it's been a non-issue. 20-30 mile rides leave ample battery life.
