I'm not sure what you're getting at -- I've been happy enough with the way mine operate, and don't feel they're sloppy; I have widened the lever's ears when installing if I've noticed any side-to-side play (short of having them bind), but the "take a wedge off" escapes me. Is there a perceived "fit" problem? I've never felt the need for more travel, certainly.
