Let's See 'Em : 26" MTB/BMX Cruiser Conversions
I'm in the process of building a single speed 26" BMX style cruiser. This is just a "on the cheap" project for myself to cruise and not do any actual BMX riding.
Looking for pics of converted MTB, or other, to BMX style cruisers. What parts did you use?
My project deatails so far:
Diamondback Sorrento Cromoly frame
Vintage blue 26" x 2.125 HE Ukai Rims laced to high flange blue SR hubs. 5 speed freewheel has been removed.
Unknown brand MX 7/8" Handlebars 29" wide. Need 22mm - 25mm shims
Using original V brakes and brake levers. May change levers to a contasting color (Red?)
On order are:
Blue grips.
18T rear freewheel.
Blue brake lever sleeves
MOHEGIA Brown sidewall 26 x 2.125 Cruiser Tires - Order cancelled
Parts needed:
Chain
BMX top load stem
1X crankset. What would be a good chainring tooth count? 44, 46??? Open to sugestions with the 18T rear.
Saddle
Pedals
Browsing craigslist and marketplace BMX bikes as a cheap alternative to getting handlebar, stem, pedals, saddle.

I'm interested in how your project turns out!
I bought my wife a Devinci MTB with XS frame on 26" wheels over a decade ago. She prefers riding her Road bike so I've been thinking about converting it into a "BMX" bike.
