Good to see you as well Joe. Ya'll went a long way, glad we didn't join as I was tired from riding 11 at Edgewood the day before. We got a nice 9 miles at BP, my 2 buddies had not been on a mt. bike this season so needed some go-easy intro time. It was perfect, great weather.

Good ride today. Ran into (not literally) Bob Cook of Runner's Edge at Bethpage. Haven't seen him since Covid. Nice to hear that the shop is doing well.

Really enjoying the CX bike, its a very different ride than the Emonda.

Two short rides today, 4 miles and 2 miles, stayed near home, but stopped to unclog leaves from some storm drains.

Nassau DPW on Glen Cove Avenue 19 NOV 2020

I’m sort of peeved DPW didn’t pick up any leaves, since they were there for two days cutting down a dead tree.

I saw “South Winds” on the weather app, so we went East. It also said “10 mph”. It turned to SW and was 15 easily, so we suffered back to the start.

I decided to "rough it" and only did 35 miles. The good news is the ride back as FAST.

15 miles in the woods this morning. We moved a few fallen trees off the trails in B'page. A bit muddy; I prefer frozen conditions.

That's the attraction of winter riding on the trail. In the woods you're sheltered from a good deal of the wind chill. Plus, your over the ground speed is relatively low, so less self-induced wind chill.

I passed a family and the son, maybe 10 was on a bike with drop bars. Didn't know anyone else that would get a bike like that for a kid.

No kids.

I used to train with a former pro racer (Craig Robbins, Nassau Wheelman) who had a son who he was training to be a competitive racer. Craig Jr. had the smallest road bike I’d ever seen.

I've taken a few days off. Sunday morn I tried to pound a large exposed root on the Tower Loop back to ground level, using my chest. It didn't work. My friend Rich riding behind me stopped about 6 inches short of running over my face, a lost opportunity for improvement. Still beats cowering in the house.

Might give it a try tomorrow.

The wind is a killer. It was a long slog south from Oyster Bay with a easy 15-20mph head wind.

I'm still hurting'. I took a wimpy ride in which I went only 23 miles and resolutely avoided using the big ring, standing on the pedals or exceeding 18mph. 600 mg Motrin bombs do help.

Saw this. Anyone been? I'm in favor of the second 2......I generally only drink real coffee after emerging from a tent or freezing my butt off in a deer stand.

Sorry to hear of your fall Joe. I also fell this AM on the mt. bike in Manetto Hills, on the new B17 trail. My L ribs are in agony, will be off the bike a few days at least. Yes, I know of this coffee place, it's been commented on the CLIMB FB page. Have not been there yet and I tend to not like to stop mid-ride.

Sorry Steve. Rib hits can be pretty painful. Years back I fell down a small cliff in Harriman and was convinced I had cracked my sternum. After a couple of weeks of pain I finally got myself X-rayed at work, and to my shock really, there were no cracks. Dues to be paid for an active life.

That sign has been at Washington Ave all summer.

Oh, many times, many times with ribs. What I'm surprised about is that my wife (who does not ride) is not all all pissed at "again ?".
