not sure if its the same, but having mondays off sometimes makes me a little sluggish on tuesdays. what helps is the shortest, highest intensity work being on tuesdays, like sprints or max cadence- the first couple are like cold water to the face for the legs to wake them up and the rest of the workout is fine. if i try to do something that is a longer effort, like in z3 or something, its miserable and they don't wake up as well or at all.

Thanks, and that's actually exactly what happened today since I had shorter high intensity work at the start of the ride.

Group ride with Fudgy, rideaz, and 20 or so others in Arizona. Had got about 4 hours sleep and many beers on Christmas eve, and 6 hours and much wine on Christmas, so the ride felt way harder than it should have! And we had insane winds. The ride was literally blown apart by the halfway regroup, and the 4% climb felt like 8%

2.5hrs including my 1min and 5min power tests near the beginning. Set new peaks for both (553 and 337, respectively). Next week is a volume week (15hrs of base: 5x3hr days).

4.5 hours today. middle 50 miles with two other guys. another creepily warm day.

16.5 hours this week. no recovery rides or junk commuting miles in there so a good week.

I just hit 500k feet of climbing for the year on today's ride. That's not a lot compared to some people but it's a lot for around here. I'm not great at it but climbing is my favorite. Our longest climb here (south mountain) has been closed for half the year so I have had to be creative and have found some really cool climbs and routes.

1x20 @ 93%, then a lot of sprints, 23 of them to be exact. I was hitting a number at will that was previously out of reach, even at the end of all of that, and 5 second power is now higher than my previous 1 second PR. It's not like I'll magically be a sprinter now, and none of the numbers are particularly impressive, but it feels good to add another tool to the toolbox, or at least to shore up a weakness. My numbers across the (pointless, arbitrary) e-wang chart are in a straight line now.

100 min on Zwift.

5:20 for the week and 415 TSS. Not ideal, but better than not riding. Can ride outside again in 2 weeks.

The answer depends on a lot of variables I think - assuming a 3 on/1 off block, where are you in that block? Where are you in the macro cycle? Is Mercury in retrograde?

Been doing xmas travel all week, got in a ride today - it was cold (below 40) so I headed out late, did a long climby loop I hadn't done before, and finished in the dark while it was raining.. without a light or fender.

71 mi, 220 tss, 6k ft of climbing today/for the week.

Just finished 2nd week of the block. I typically expect to feel a little sluggish the week following rest (though I've figured out adding very minor bouts of intensity into a rest week seems to help me overall), but this is the first time I'm really doing 20+hrs every on week and I'm noticing that rest days throw off the PE chi even if power seems to be mostly present. This is a question I should be asking my coach, I just didn't want to bug the dude on Christmas.

This does not really go here, but it is training. I thought an 81 ave RPM for a last year world champion was interesting.

tired. either off or just an hour easy today.

rib feels a lot better. never went to the doctor, but meh. i think sleeping on my back made a massive difference in allowing it to heal.

Last week of base 2. After this I'm swapping base 3 for a build block for a quick ftp boost (theoretically), then doing base 3 afterward followed by standard build.

SCIENCE!

When I bruised my rib a couple years ago, I couldn't sleep on my back for a couple months.
