First Build of 2013!
This very nice Schwinn Prologue is my first completed build of 2013.
23" Tange Prestige frame that needed some touch-up and polishing but was in surprisingly good condition overall. Drive train is Dura Ace 7700 9 speed with new downtube shifters. 3TTT stem with Nitto B115 bars and new Shimano R600L brake levers, American Classic seatpost, New Shimano R500 wheelset (destickered) with Schwalbe Lugano tires (and they're 25's!). Nice mix of the old and the new, I think.

Got to love those Prologues. I have nine speed DA 7700 on mine as well, but with STI.
Interesting contrast, you went with the red saddle, I went with a white (with black and red trim).
My crank is a modern R700 compact (I think, bike is at the other house right now). Bars and stem are Cinelli, I tend to use Cinellis on personal builds.

Nice Premis. I am building one with Supurbe Pro Hubs, and Mavic Open Pro wheels. Other than that, It will be just as it came from the factory. Can't wait to ride it.

Seeing this thread makes me kick myself about passing up on 87 Schwinn Circuit for 275 earlier in December. All original except the seat. I believe the c&v gods were upset at me since I got into a small car accident that following Monday morning.

1987 Passage I found in a pawnshop after someone had cyclocrossed with it . I'm currently in the process of restoring it into a tourer as originally built , and a 700c retrofit, proper front rack, and some paint touch - ups

As posted in the Classic Rigs & Rides thread, my recently aquired 87' Super Sport. Full Shimano 600EX group, all original except the brake levers. I had this same bike back in 87' only in the more popular "magenta" color scheme.
This is how the bike looks now in preparation for either paint or powder coat, I don't know which.
This thread is really getting to me, as I have a soft spot for the late 80's Schwinns

I always heard that the magenta colour "bombed " with the bike buying public which is why they changed mid model year to the red and white scheme.
I saw your bike in the rigs thread. Liked it there too ! Why the respray ?

That paint looks like it's in bad way, a lil less bad then mine was.. but still worthy of a repaint.

As for the magenta color, I actually LIKED it:lol. Another variation I might try if I paint the bike is the same red and white, but the rear sprayed in blue, kind of like what was available on the 89' Prelude. Decisions, decisions!

Although not visible in the pics, the paint is in pretty rough shape....lots of chips touched up with thick not quite matching paint. It definately needs a respray.

Good question lol So far I've considered the following options:
1. Paint it back the same, which I like.
2. Paint it basicly the same, only with the rear sprayed blue, like what was available on the 89' Prelude.
3. Magenta and white, which was one of the reasons I bought mine back in 87' (hey, it was the 80's, after all lol)
4. Matte black with white decals, inspired by the finish on those awesome looking 87' Circuit's.
I also considered trying this on the wear spots on the back wheel(after adjusting those brakes, of course) It works really well on guns.

Well, what ever the option you choose, it will be one nice riding machine. Question, if you have the 600EX set up, do you have the star wrench to take off the headset ? Or did you manage it differently ?

OK - Here's my 1884 Schwinn Super Sport page:
Schwinn Super Sport
Well, early 1980s, but it's there if you're interested; I also have a Schwinn Le Tour frame which a friend gave me, which is on my restoration list.

1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 3
I know I am a little outside of the 80's, but heres my 1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 3. I Swapped on some differnt wheels just to test them out. I think I will go back to the original grey anodized versions.

WV is not flat..
Just finished up this 86 Prelude. It rides pretty awesome. These Columbus tubing bikes are very underated. Sorry about the shakey picture. It looked clearer on the phone.
