Nice! There's nothing wrong with a ride that goes longer than planned, unless you can't make it back. I like that Romic. What tires are you running on it? Are they the Grand Bois Lierre tires?

I escaped the rain again this weekend by driving east.
I spent the day riding around the Lake Chelan area.
I found some new roads to explore on my first loop of the day.
My Singer works well in it's "Cino" configuration.
I followed these new dirt roads back to Chelan, then rode the scenic Manson loop.
It was early afternoon by the time I reached Chelan again. I was hungry so I stopped for a proper lunch at the Vin Du Lac Winery
It was getting quite windy when I rode the last leg of the day. A trip up McNeil Canyon on the other side of the Columbia River. This is one of the great climbs in the State. A road sign at the bottom of the hill warns you that up ahead it is 5 miles at 12%. On the way up, I keep myself amused by taking a self portrait thanks to a guardrail post and a 10 second timer.
I drove home, crossing over the Cascade Mountains to the cold rain in North Bend. My wife tells me it rained off and on all day. I smile, feeling the effects of a little sunburn on my face. Ahh thank you Eastern Washington, another great get away.

Yesterday stunk.
My car ride to the Dairyland Roubaix in southern Wisconsin disappeared when the bottom fell out of the weather forecast.
So, no dice.
Then, they postponed the Mammoth distance gravel race in nearby St. Croix.
Hard to blame them, as we received 9"-10" of new snow Friday.
So yesterday we rode our 3 speeds to various local record stores for "Record Store Day."
Today we were not going to wait for weather forecasts and decided to do the Grand Round in Minneapolis.
Just over 56 miles, so here are some cruddy cell phone pics.

Later that same day, my buddy Alan called, and we went out for a 40 miler, he on a mtn bike, me on my city bike. ~90 degrees when we left at 5:30. This morning my body felt like it had ridden 100. Could barely move. But I'm back in the saddle, and that's what counts.

Good eye, those are the GB Lierres. Once they calm down and wear in a bit I think they'll be great. With all the sand and rock on the roads still, they pick up every little bit and toss it at the fenders. The slight noise doesn't detract from how awesome this bike rolls now though. The 650B kool-aid is life changing indeed.

NBW Dartmouth 50/Profile Rock
I did 55 miles on the De Rosa today. It was in the low 50s and windy. This year I've decided to focus less on mileage and more on going for rides in different areas. So I went to North Dartmouth MA, using a route from the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen site.
The ride went through farmland, state forests and then parallel with the Westport estuary.

There was a small craft advisory today and the wind was blowing pretty hard off the water. I was glad to turn around and have it at my back on the return.

This is a beautiful area to ride in if you stay off the major roads. A lot of gentleman's farms.

If you crossed the Westport River on Hixbridge, did you climb the hill heading west? That's a killer. Sharon and I took the tandem up there on a NBW ride once. You stand at the bottom and ask yourself what's that thing way up in the air? Oh, I think it's a traffic light. Or a plane, I can't tell for sure. I guess if you had the wind at your back you were heading west. It was a strong wind from the east today, wasn't it?

I just did my commute today, round trip 25.75 miles. Today's run was on the Raleigh Gran Sport. It was fun, four different bikes on four consecutive commutes. Maybe on Wednesday I'll take the Masi and make it five.
The run back to the train station this afternoon was brutal, with a fierce headwind and cold, mid-40's. We rarely get winds form the east unless it's a significant coastal storm. The sky was gray mottled with blue, as clouds elbowed each other through the crowded low levels. I was sure glad no rain fell. I thought the prediction was for a nice day.

I think the wind was coming from the Southeast today. I came down the hill going east across the Hixbridge. The hill on the other side is definitely easier. Overall, this area is a lot flatter than where I usually ride.
