We are camping in the NC mtns and I sought out the flattest trail I could find.
Trail head near Appalachian State.
Beautiful views along the way.
Ruin of a hydro electric dam built in 1915.
Not a long ride but a good one.

I did 34+ miles this morning on my 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1, starting before dawn to beat the Texas heat. Calm winds, but the 90% humidity was BRUTAL. I was glad I wore a Camelback in addition to bringing a bottle to squirt through the helmet vents.
Lights taken without a flash
Reflective strips on the Schwalbe Marathons and Transit saddle bag taken with the flash.
Texas Longhorns. Because, well, it's Texas...
Dawn breaking
The trail runs along Interstate I-35E while it crosses Lewisville Lake. The sunrise is one of the many reasons I like leaving before dawn.
Home in time for breakfast with the family.

Did the old rail bed again today. There are some cross paths that farmers use to get from field to field. But today, I noticed one that seemed to have some sort of structure a ways back.
So I thought I'd check it out.
I was a really cool old bridge! Must be really old. It had all kinds of patches including road signs. At first, I was kinda afraid to go on it. LOL

Just finishing up a 10-day trip to upstate Maine and Prince Edward Island which included several good bike rides. The first was the carriage roads on Campobello Island - in New Brunswick, just across the border from Lubec, Maine. A great place to ride, but the weather was a little lousy the day we were there, so the scenic vistas weren't all that scenic. Still a lot of fun.

The next ride was a section of PEI's famous Confederation Trail. The entire trail is 470 km, but we just did about 22 km round trip between St. Peters Bay and Morrell.

Our next ride was on the Gulf Shore Parkway - a biking/walking trail in PEI which runs along the Gulf of St. Lawrence from Cavendish to North Rustico. Absolutely stunning scenery!

Our last ride in PEI was on the roads near our rental house in Darnley, over to the neighboring village of Malpeque. I gotta say, biking is a great way to see the countryside there!
PEI is filled with beautiful churches like this one in Malpeque.
marina at Malpeque Bay
lobster boats
Cabot Beach Provincial Park
potato fields

Weeki Wachee Preserve in West Central Florida along the Gulf coast NW of Tampa. It has some unique scenery for this area due to being an old (and large) abandoned limestone mining operation.

Yeah, it must be a thing for them. We came across another pair in another park we visited while in PEI. It definitely invites you to relax and enjoy the view!

Just got back from our 47th Anniversary trip to the Outer Banks of NC. We honeymooned there and we go back a couple times a year. I got to ride around the Wright Brothers Memorial which seemed appropriate since they owned a bike shop.
The Kill Devil Hills/ Nags Head area has terrific bike paths and trails.
Model to scale of the Wright Flyer
Bikes are allowed on the roads but not on the sidewalks.

Well after some time off from a cycling accident (5 shattered rubs, broken collar) a week in hospital and recovery time.
Then "losing" my 2013 Trek DS 8.4 I a typhoon..
Finally back on the hybrid trail (to compliment my roadie).
Bought a cheap second hand 2017 Giant ATX 1. Here she is on the trails on my way home.
The frame was a little too large for me however but for the price worth it and just basically shortened the cockpit as much as possible. Came across a good deal however on a better fitting frame and last night swapped all the components across (and some other bits and pieces from another couple of bikes)
TLDR 😂 Today's ride the maiden ride on the Pipeline track. Nothing fell off (including myself) and for a cheap price got some good bones to upgrade as time goes on.

Huntington Beach Pier, yesterday. Friend lives 8 miles up the coast from it, so it made for a nice 16 mile roundtripper, followed by a BBQ to eliminate all of my caloric gains...

Stayed at Gulf Shores this last weekend. Took my steed with me. Nice golf course riding topped with the Gulf State park trails.
Entrance to Estates
Perfect sign.
Spanish moss in the oaks. Lots of stops with benches and swings to take in the beauty.
Parkour course in the middle of the ride.
Lake overlook.
Plenty of wooden pier overlooks.
Total mileage

It looks like a great ride! What's going on with your pedals and cranks? Are those some sort of adjustable length crank arms?

Good eye. I suffer from left knee pain that fitting didn't eliminate. Run oversized pedals to allow foot placement changes and built my own swing crank for the left side. That knee hurts under regular flexion. Been doing some stabilizer muscle exercises and they are helping, but the crank arms keep the inflammation away. Without them, I'd hit mile 2 or 3 and really be miserable and unable to ride for 2-3 days after. Did 14 at the park, 23 total for that day alone. Only had minor issues after mile 12. Rode later that day with no pain.

Basically was able to determine from bike fitting sessions the pain was only under full flexion right at the top of the stroke. I have misalignment issues in both my left hip and foot, along with a shortened left leg, so my knee takes a beating. I have seen other swing arm crank sets, but didn't want to plink down that much money without any guarantee it would work for me. However, $50-60 worth of parts I would sacrifice some cash for. I found two left crank arms on ebay for $20 shipped, and bought some assorted bearings, shoulder bolts, etc to build what I needed. The crank arms had already been shortened to around 135mm, so I tried one by itself with a little benefit, so made a crude jig to hold them true while I drilled out one to accept a roller bearing along with removing the upper part of it with my band saw, drilled and tapped the other one, put the shoulder bolt through a thrust bearing, through the roller bearing pressed into the second crank, through a second thrust bearing, then thread it into the main arm attached to the crank.
