second kid grabbed it, got it, breaking the cage and the frame in the process.
McEwen gave the bottle to a kid standing by (which I think was a class move because he's concerned with the principle of the bottle-getting, not the bottle itself - and thieves stealing from him don't seem to impress him).
Only after he gave the bottle away and started to leave did he notice the frame/cage damage. He went back to the kid he grabbed and yelled at him.
On the clip you can hear him say something like "who's going to pay for this? this is a something thousand dollar frame" or something to that effect.
The kid's dad leans over and says something to him too but don't know what it is. Either "next time get the damn bottle" or "ignore him, he has 50 TT bikes in the team truck". Whatever, to me it seems apparent where the kid got the idea it's okay to steal someone's stuff.
You know who pays for that damaged frame? Whoever buys frames from his sponsor. You and me. Well, not me, I pay for TMobile's damaged frames though. And HealthNet I guess.
and on that other side thread, EPO would help a sprinter a LOT - if you're a sprinter and can get over the climbs and can ride with the group to the finish, you'll destroy people in the sprint. EPO would help you get to the finish. It doesn't help the sprint per se - it allows the sprinter to get to the sprint and to have reserves available when he actually does sprint.

The greater the buffering capacity of the muscle and blood, the more stable it is towards the unpleasant pH decrease that turns your legs into burning soup.

We hypothesized that the underlying mechanisms include altered protein expression of transport systems and the enzymes involved in lactate, HCO3- and H+ fluxes in skeletal muscle and erythrocytes.
Together, these changes suggest a hypoxia-induced [home made epo] increase in the capacity for lactate, HCO3- and H+ fluxes from muscle to blood and from blood to erythrocytes.

Erythrocytes may play an important role in regulating plasma [Lac-] and [K+] with intense exercise.

1) The red blood cells act as a solid “stationary phase” that binds to metabolic byproducts nonspecifically (Langmuir adsorption isotherm) and ion exchange occurs with the diffuse layer that surrounds charged surfaces.
2) CO2/carbonic acid/ bicarbonate balance perturbations due to the erythrocytes carbonic anhydrase enzymes.

McEwen is pretty f***en awesome in my books.
And bottom line is he's right, someone does have to pay for those things, even if its not him, and I'm sure they don't need snot-nosed little fans messing up their gear every time they cross the finish line. They let one guy get away with it, everyone is gonna try to do it.
Bet you the little tyke who got to keep the bottle will never try any *****e like that.

I beg to differ. "Arguing on the internet" is a winner for us all. If someone is in error, let's hope the edumacated fix it - and entertain us. Your poster with the gal running was interesting. I find humor in South Park's Timmy, but not that. YMMV.

There was a good article about him in Pro Cycling magazine this month, it's worth reading.
