This weekend was finally the start of riding, except now we will have another week of cold and rain to go along with it. Hope this isn't the only weekend of riding for April...

Friday the first ride of the year. Only went for my little 10 mile loop in which I left everything at home including the wallet and only carrying one water bottle. It's 5 miles downhill then 5 miles climbing back. Got down to turn around and looked at another road. Never rode on it. Off I go and before I realize, I'm 9 miles down, starving because I hadn't eaten since lunch, and I'm pulling in the parking lot of a local gas station in the middle of nowhere that has fantastic pizza. Only.... no wallet!

Ended up being about 17 miles which my GPS on the phone lost me. Mapping it by hand gives me 1600 ft of climbing, most being the 2nd half back home. Being the first ride out since the beginning of December, I overdid it with climbing back to home. Legs were dead.

Saturday got a day in around the Burgh and met some friends in Pittsburgh for 37 miles.

4/13 - 17
4/14 - 37

MTD - 54

Got in 103 miles of loaded touring last weekend. Would have been more but I cut the trip from 3 to 2 days because of a front moving through on Saturday night. Made the right choice since the wind chill and my planned Sunday destination (train station in Atlantic City) was 36 degrees at 9 a.m., and it was raining. Would have had to ride some 30 miles into a cold, strong, wet headwind. I fear I am getting soft in my old age.

Starting to wonder why we have an April mileage thread. It's still January. I had hopes from last weekend's 84°, but just looked outside and it's still snowing...

He's only an hour away. I'm afraid to go get the bugger though. My luck, I'll be stuck in Punxsutawney in a continuous loop of a 31° day in April flopping back and forth between rain and snow.

I was on the stationary bike a few times early this month but since this is April and the official start to *outdoor* cycling season I won't include them on any further logs...

That said, we had a beautiful 60 degree sunny day yesterday so I naturally had to take the bike out...

4/21: 26.5 miles (1:40; sadly no matter how much I continued to spin over the winter I didn't improve my fitness much)

MTD: 26.5 miles
YTD: 26.5 miles

Big/main goal this month is to complete my upcoming 50 mile fondo (28-Apr) in sub-four hours, the last 2 years I rode it I finished in just over 4hrs and hated myself afterward

Did you forget a zero or something? 32 miles for the day would mean more than 22 for the month
