but reports are that the centurion carbon (and carbon IM to keep on topic) have tubes that are aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber. these are bonded into aluminum lugs and it looks from inspecting my frame, like the put a compression plug to help hold it. I have not seen this in other bikes.
My Look, for example, is some sort of carbon/kevlar/ceramic mixed tubing that is simply bonded into the aluminum lugs with no compression fitting as far as I can tell. I suspect the IM construction is a whole heck of a lot more robust.

Robust and Flexible. I like it. The flex in the carbon Centurions is more due to the fork. It's not bad, though. It makes for a comfortable century, for sure.
Robust and Flexible. We've just found a new replacement for "stiff yet compliant" for the bike magazine description of seemingly every single frame they've tested.....

The MV one looks to have a Dura Ace Stem. and i noticed the single loop Brake cable guides are the same as the Zunow frame has.

if its a Zunow it could have a channel in the top tube. it would have two cable guides placed far apart, with the channel in the middle holding the cable. the way that number is tucked in makes me think this might be the case, otherwise it would not hold. but it would if it had the channel as it would be pinched in.
not the best pic but you can see the cable sits halfway inside a round groove

The team frame i have does not have the channel it has standard single loop brake cable guides . also no Braze-On front Derailuer mount. also no biplane rear brake bridge. I dont know why the team frames were so different from standard Zunow frames . possibly to keep it looking like a standard Ironman production frame?

Although it could still be a zunow, it doesn't have a cable channel or a FD braze on tab. Also the race number is going over both cable and TT.
BTW @jetboy is that your zunow? Man that thing is tight.

Here's a couple I may have previously posted. Notice the difference in forks. The most interesting part is that they are both from '86. The silver one is from the beginning of the season and the Miami Vice is from later in the season.

Does the bottom bike even have IM decals? It looks like a stock prestige to me. That is a Shimano decal where the IM decal should be. Is that some bar tape at the back of the TT wrapped around the cable? It might be a new cable job put on right before the event that is a little long. That might be why you don't see the cable on top of the TT. It could be sagging a bit like a high line wire.

It looks like this one with a Shimano decal instead of the Prestige decal. Looks like it has the same GP-4 rims as well.

I didn't know that Anthracite was dark grey. This picture looks like a dark green/silver. I wish that combo had been available. The Lavender/silver is sweet, though.

Perhaps you're right RT ... (as usual). The cable may be over the race number. However it doesn't line up right and if you look closer you can see the top of the 7 bleeding over from the other side. Either way there is definitely a TT cable. I hope this is a better pic. ![](https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikeforums.net-vbulletin/2000x441/20181026_083245_1_585a7b5ff30fc87db1e3e160bd906d478a38deb5.jpg)

Thanks Guys!
I was posting on the first build thread and thought about something.
Thanks to Markwesti I now overhaul and install my bottom bracket and headsets myself. He told me which tools I needed and encouraged me to do it.
Thanks to RobbieTunes I now ride my Ironman more proudly.
Thanks to rccardr I have confidence to tackle any mechanical problem I may encounter (I just ask him for advice).
Thanks to seypat for inspiring me to build it my own unique way.
Thanks to jetboy for making me realize it doesn't have to be in pristine shape to be outstanding.
Thanks to fleslider for making me feel less a nerd about bikes or at the very least I'm not the only one.
Thanks to canklecat and jim dandy for their stories and reminders that in the face of adversity "We ride On".
So thats my Gratitude, sorry sometimes I forget to say it. (BTW I'm sure I missed some).

I don't know if it's laziness or simple disinterest, but I'm the same.
