I am trying to put on the brake levers and it doesn't want to fit around any part of the handlebar (if I use the included rubber padding for the mount). Any suggestions there?

another question, since my legs are so stumpy I have to put the seat almost all the way down to the seat tube (about 1" exposed). Is there anything wrong with riding a bike like that (other than aesthetics)?

Assuming that your reach and height of the bars relative to the saddle are comfortable for you, then there is nothing wrong with that. I also have short legs, and can't stand over many of my bikes, but they fit me properly nonetheless.

Your cog is slipping.

My Madison was really damn tall - I only had about 3.5" of seatpost showing and standover height was way up in the junk - but the top tube length was just right so it worked for me.

I think I ended up ordering the grips from Amazon.com. Bought 2 sizes, the regular track grips and the double length track grips. These are the standard size. Couldn't find them at any of the LBSs. The grips are great!

Is there a breakdown with pics of the 2007 through 2011 Madisons? I'm not sure if this is correct...
2007 Yellow?
2008 Light Blue
2009 ??
2010 ??
2011 Red or White/Purple?
I saw the one they have on BayAreaSchwinn, however, it doesn't show the year.
Gratzi!

Here are a couple pictures of my NOS 1985 Madison. Never been ridden. It would be , but it is too tall for me. I bought it from the family of my local schwinn dealer after he pasted away. It was hanging over his desk for years. I even have the original brakes .

jmagruder10, I'm the guy that bought the wellgo double strap track pedals from you last fall. The bike is gorgeous in person and my size. Unfortunately not enough coin to pay for it! You have some other beauts as well. None of your bikes was less than cool.

By the way, on a somewhat related note, I seem to remember that Schwinn stated in their catalogs that track bikes were NOT to be used for day-to-day street riding. They seemed to indicate that they weren't built to handle the abuse. I've read lots of comments pro and con, but am I remembering that right that they didn't advise it?
