Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think the mix is right as you see it.

Going all metal would have been too much. I thought that using black for everything (cockpit, wheels, saddle, tape etc) would make the stainless steel look so much better.

Great chain. Not a fan of the color, but after a few hundred miles it won't matter.

Shimano is such a bunch of fail garbage. They make a 255g stem, and a 295g set of handlebars. They put Mark Cavendish's name on them and sell them for irresponsible prices. Typical Shimano idiocy.

You can get a lot more for that kind of money, and weigh a lot less. I just purchased these.

I was looking for a stem, and I was curious about the Shamano stuff. No thanks, not for me, you can keep your battery operated groupo too.

OXO Softworks Bottle Brush. I got tired of looking at the dirt in my Polar Insulated water bottle. Best $3.99 investment!

In the past few weeks, 2 Seagull messenger bags for my sons, a 2010 Felt F75 for me, a 2011 Fuji Roubaix 1 for my oldest son and a Giant XTC for my youngest, as well as lights, bells, bottle cages, and tubes. Its definitely a cycle centric Christmas in my house this year

It's not a recent purchase but it is the best addition to my trainer setup ever. Well, since I got the trainer, that is. It's a Lasko Blower Fan: https://www.laskoproducts.com/?p=409

I can direct the air stream toward my face and upper body and it works extremely well. I am only using it on low speed!

Blew most of my paycheck on cycling gear, it's going to be the two weeks of x-mas as it all trickles in!

Today the Mars 4.0 and PDW Fenderbot tail lights arrived. I believe in redundancy, too often have I arrived to find one of my lights stopped working en route. I'm upgrading all my lights to AA or AAA so I can move to rechargeable batteries.

After a white knuckle ride in the dark last week with only some blinkies, realized I need a real light. After much research, just got a Gemini Lights Xera helmet lamp. Walked around in the backyard with it on my head last night and it's awesome! The new LEDs available now are just an amazing combination of low weight and powerful brightness.

Over the past month I've had a bit of fun:

New SRAM chain:

New brake pads (which I hardly used on my subsequent descent):

New Fizik wrap:

Brand new Fizik Arione for $50 (w/out the name on the sides though):

And just ordered some Neuvation M28X wheels and new cassette tonight:

Haha, I'm done for a little while now. Or at least until next year...
