I guess this counts as a hybrid. 1992 Trek 750 with juiced-up gearing.

I was happy that my new Comax2 arrived right on schedule yesterday, so I was able to get out for a quick ride early this morning - out on the Trinity Trails, back through downtown Ft Worth.

I wanted another toy, was thinking of all the bikes I have done in the past and ran out of ideas. Until I thought why not a ebike? I could ride in jeans and normal clothes and not really sweat going to most parts of town. So I shopped some places last 2 days and ended up getting a screaming deal on a IZIP E3 Dash E bike. It has a range of 20-35 miles on assist. The dealer took 1k off the MSRP price

So what's it like to ride?

I only got to ride maybe 6 miles so far today. The other Ebike I rode was a 2015 Specialized Turbo https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bik...ic/turbo/turbo . The Spec was a lot different feeling, the " kick" was so gradual that I really had to ride the same hill over and over again to feel a boost. The assist took too long or too gradual for me. So I gave it back to the dealer and asked to try this IZIP one, never heard of the brand before and was skeptical.
Until I rode it that is, the boost is almost like a mini turbo. It has a throttle. Crank it and you will feel it, much more playful and speedy in than the other bike. I can tackle hills without getting out of the seat now and can wear normal go to work clothes without sweating now. Not that I am going to do that, this is just another toy to me. The highest speed is suppose to be 28mph, I got as high as 23, 24mph on flats with full assist. I think this bike will get at best 20 miles with how I like to twist the throttle. The bars setup is too high right now, I think I will have to flip the stem upside down. The frame is very stiff, even with 45mm tires you can feel more of the road than on my steel bike.
I think this is keeper for me!https://www.currietech.com/izip-elect...ip-e3-dash-d-5

The ebike is simply awesome, I did a route with fall/winter jacket and jeans and did hills like it was nothing. Not a sweat at all today, it was like a magic carpet ride and I used the lowest power level. IZIP Dash is making me think of selling the Jamis Coda.

What about the reliability of the electric motor?

I have no idea how good or bad they tend to be for reliability over the long term.

I've been averaging 130 per week in the three weeks I have had the bike. I am riding over one mph faster than I was on my Giant Cypress so I can get in more miles per day. That has brought me up to 17 miles during weekdays. On the weekends, I never had gone farther than 20 miles on my Cypress. I rode almost 25 miles each of the last two Sunday's.

I have no clue, just know that ebikes have been around long than IPADS.

It is great that you are able to get a bike that is clearly faster than your previous one.

So often people find they get no speed increase.

Another new bike day....

I've been visiting bike shops, reading and dreaming for months now and decided it was time to get started. I rode enough hybrids to get a feel for what I liked and almost bought a Sirrus. But the custom build was intriguing, even though I was warned that it's expensive. So I scheduled a full bike fit and we looked at geometry. The Felt Z2 is an endurance bike with some comfort and endless possibility for upgrades as budget allows. I had to make some difficult decisions based on cost but at least for now, it's a good balance for me.

Just a few more

Upswept bars weren't my first choice but the bike fit was specific about what I needed:

Carbon frame

I like the small XT brake levers

Disk brakes were a priority

My 2010 Marin Larkspur and some things that make it mine. Installed new crankset, new cassette, clipless pedals, ergonomic grips, rack with commute pack.

I really do like this bike, but my rides are getting so long and so hilly that I'm itching for a road bike...

First post. Did a very little bit of research on here then quickly hit up Craigslist for my first"real"bike. I did well I think.

Cannondale, h300 from around 2000.

Got a topeak rack for the rear, lights, Shimano spd pedals just put on and getting a replacement wheel currently as I had a small accident with the spokes and lock bar...

Made a bag for my wallet, phone, knife ect
