You can't have Sean, I'm listening to him being taciturn at the Giro. Who's doing your commentary? The Eurosport coverage of the ToC isn't bad.

It's a pity about Phil. He does know his cycling, and he used to be a good commentator. But in recent years he seems to have become a sort of parody of himself, flailing around to generate artificial excitement.

He should not comment about things he does not know about. He cited a "sea seal" (sea otter) and "red tailed eagle" (red tailed hawk) during one segment. Makes me wonder if what he is saying about the race is made up too.

I noted the "seal" as well. Sheesh.

What gets me most are things like saying the guys would normally take this sweeping curve at 60mph, but that today they were only doing about 45mph. Looking at them, you could see they were going at most 30. One does not pedal slowly at 45mph. Of course anytime a team has someone in front they are "controlling the race", and some of the tactics descriptions are just plain ludicrous. I don't care as much about mispronunciations, but I can't comprehend how you get "Avula Beach" from Avila...

But hey, at least it is being televised.

If you have a 56/11 you only need to turn it at 112 rpm.

Glad that I'm resting today through Friday. I think I'm getting too old for this facilitation stuff at work. Racing a bike is easier.

Spent the evening watching the Giro stage and the MotoGP race from this past weekend.

Getting ready to move out of my apartment in NOLA, deciding which bike stuff needs to go. Getting rid of a bike ('97 Bianchi Trofeo) and a frameset (2011 Allez E5) so far, as well as three 700x28 Conti Grand Prix which only fit on the Allez. Not trying to sell them here on the forum because I'm not willing to go through the hassle of packing and shipping. That'll leave me with four bikes and everything I need to build up another one when I get another frameset. Some of the stuff I've been keeping "just in case" will find its way to the dumpster.

My wife and I are going to our cabin in PA tomorrow for the long holiday weekend. She told me that I have done a very good job at getting all the tasks completed at home for the summer season and that I should have fun this weekend. (I even planted the garden this week) She asked what I wanted to do at the cabin and I told her that one day I want to do a 4+ hr ride and once completed I want to put Albert Collins, Derrick Trucks and Luther Allison CD's on shuffle, then sit on the porch and drink beers and eat peanuts until the CD's play out. She said that is not going to happen. Why even ask?

I know what 50 Shades of Hermes would do if I had my wife in a cabin in the woods.

TTT tomorrow. Me and my tandem buddy against 4 other teams. 7:34 start time. That means a 5 AM wake up. That means everything needs to be packed and in order tonight, because I'm lucky if I can remember to put on shoes that early.

Doing an opener today but otherwise staying mostly off the legs. I'm finding long stints in the garage or yard make the wheels pretty flat for a day or two. After last Saturday's TT I put the legs up all day, did my recovery stuff, and was flying the next day. Here's hoping for a repeat.

My "for fun" team starts at 8:28a. I have to be in Downey by 5:15a to climb into a van with the rest of my team. Don't ask what time my alarm will beep. Hopefully I'll be able to get home early enough today to ride a little and do an "opener" or two. This ought to be interesting since I don't know one of my teammates and I've never ridden with him.

Ex and the big guy will be done before we start, Maybe they'll wave at us as they head back to the start from the finish.

Ok, Im confused. Ex, you are riding the tandem in a TTT? Or you are doing the TTT with the guy you ride the tandem with... just the two of you, to make it fair, or hauling a couple of other guys around as well? <scratching head>

OMG... don't forget to move to the side as you pass people - wouldn't want to see anyone run over and crushed. They'll be humiliated enough being sucked into your spoke wash as you go by.

Old school. Asking Di Luca to stop taking EPO would be like asking Sid Vicious to stop shooting heroin.

Hard workout planned for today. Ain't gonna happen - too much other stuff to do. As much as I like living in the rural South, there are disadvantages; I need tires for my pickup, and most tire stores close at lunchtime on Saturday and don't open again until Monday. Some may not open tomorrow either, due to the holiday. A local bike racer owns a tire business, and I'd love to give him some custom, but he's only open Monday-Friday.

Working on finding a job today, after playing musical pickup tires. Workout pushed to tomorrow.
