Pick from the ones with 2 wheels, and a seat and a handle bar and brakes and pneumatic tires, using such varied materials as steel and aluminum and titanium and carbon fibre, and rubber and plastic and brass and with chains and sprockets and with paint and stickers too. Sometimes, they come in different sizes and shapes, but all have simliar lines and designs. Within that wide description, pick any 10 brands or models you like, and your have your answer.

For me, I'd start with Italian built steel framed, road-going, sport bikes named after venerable and storied builders or fable racers. But in truth, they're all beautiful aren't they, regardless of preferences or opinions? So no doubt I'd include a few other intersting models and brands.

Maybe "10 favorite bikes" is more like it. To say "best" is only to say "best for me."

Forbes Welcome

But seriously though, all bikes are great bikes as long as you ride them and get enjoyment out of the ride.

Have fun, ride safely and stop worrying about silly lists.

Without a doubt.

The funny thing is, if there is a worst 10 list, the Schwinn Varsity would earn a spot on that too.

They did have cracks in a percentage of the forks from that time period. A percentage. However not all. I put on thousands of miles on that bike and road it hard. So mine was not a death fork bike.

Ha! Yes, I did not die thus I am here to post!

Let me just add that I love that bike and it served me very well for many years. Almost every time I mention that bike, that I still have it, the reply is --"Oh, the death fork bike!"

Proof that negative news travels farther than good news!

Let me also point out that not every fork produced during that period was a death fork. Actually ONLY a percentage of them were. Which means a percentage of them were NOT. Yet, like most recalls they often replace good items with other good items out of an abundance of caution.

Also, when this recall happened I was serving in the United States Marine Corp and never got the notice that such a recall had occurred. Interestingly I had brought the bike with me to my duty station and was riding the heck out of it apparently when most of the biking community was screaming, "Death Forks, AHHHH!!! Beware of the Death Forks, AHHHHH!" AHHHH, were all gonna die!"

So, indeed, I did not die and I rode that Lambert built Viscount bike for many thousands of miles and with great intensity and veracity.
