I bit the bullet and bought a new groupset for the Habanero for next year. I chose Ultegra R8000 as it has a good proven track record and the cable activated shifters and brakes should be simple and easy for me to install. I went with 34/50 chainrings and would have preferred 12-28 cassette but not an option so got 11-28. Plan is to strip Habanero completely down after the holiday season and do the build over the winter. Really the only item I am unsure about is the headset. It’s a standard Cane Creek and 12 years old, never serviced but still smooth as butter. I don’t know whether to just leave it alone or ask LBS to replace bearings. Thoughts?

If you have the normal spacer that comes with a Shimano cassette, which very well be a .6mm, then that's not the 10/11 speed one. That one is 1.8mm. If you don't have that, you have a 10 speed body.

Or, indeed, how would anyone feel if I blasted an air horn at them every time I rode by? It's only a few seconds, NBD right?
No, rude. Completely. People somehow got by without it a decade ago, but now think it's fine to inflict noise on everyone else all the time, be it music or walking around using speakerphone for whatever reason.
Y'all want to know why I feel #bahhumbug all the time? I live my life trying to be as considerate as possible of everyone around me, and somehow am frequently surrounded by people who care about nothing and no one but themselves. Whether that's pushing their music on everyone, hogging the path, drafting without asking, weaving around, stopping in the middle of the grocery store aisle, or the thousand and million other things people do all the time without thinking about it. And this is why I want my moat.

this sums up exactly how I feel. It’s so strong of a feeling, that I almost feel crippled by how much I care about my surroundings. Meanwhile 90 percent of the people today seem to only be interested in themselves.
People who get on a moving walkway at an airport and stand on it like it’s an amusement ride. Because they have a three hour lay over everyone else in the airport must have one too.

Question that came up in discussion recently - if you ride two 50 mile segments in one day (midnight to midnight, but they were broken up by a meal or two is that a century? Or, does it have to be a fairly continuous ride with breaks of shorter intervals.

Big john's gonna make fun of me, but I'm starting to jones again. This time for a Centurion Ironman. One of the guys on the ride had one - red and white, with Shimano 600 kit from between Arabesque and Tricolor. Too small for me, plus it's his bike. So I was looking on Craigs List like I often do and there's one up in Sonoma County. Red with 'Titanium', both metalflake. Same kit. Listed as a 56, but the pics look bigger than any 56 I've ever seen. Longer head tube, steeper angle between the seat tube and seat stays. Same 6207 kit. Seller's asking $300, but the listing's been there 16 days.....
