Back in the late 90's my cousin had to have neck surgery and couldn't ride her MTB for a couple years so they picked up the E bike. The seating position of the bent let her ride without bothering her neck, her husband rode it and went back and bought one for himself. Even though she can ride her MTB again they still do a lot of their riding on these. I rode her's a little to see what it needed but the derailleur was gummed up and it was on a gravel lane with an incline so not ideal recumbent conditions. I got the derailleur cleaned and freed up on the bench but didn't get a chance to ride it again. Jury is still out for me but I want to try it again on level pavement for more than a few yards.

Everyone I know who has taken it for a spin has really liked it, it takes a little practice to start off but once you are rolling it rides and handles very well... it is too bad bikeE went out of business as they designed a rather decent, affordable recumbent and were very successful until they started playing with more expensive and early generation suspension technology.

I have an itch to get a bent to play with and I keep watching for a good buy on a Bike E but I've only seen one come up for sale in my AO in the past couple of years. It needed a lot of work, as in a frame up rebuild, and they thought it was made out of gold. The work part is no problem, that's half the fun for me but it has to be priced accordingly, not what they paid for it new 20 years ago. One of these days.........

But, I digress. Any tips on what to look for on the Bike E's if I stumble on one that is decently priced?

Looks a like fun ride! Been considering adding an off-road capable bike to the stable to join friends on their weekly Alligator Ride (truly amongst alligators, wild hogs, an other assorted swampland wildlife) over gravel/broken pavement paths that were formerly used to service agricultural irrigation equipment. Tried it once on a hybrid road (Giant Escape) bike with 38mm tires and it about beat me to death!

hAVE TO SAY, ON MY BIKE SINCE BUYING 6 Y AGO, I`VE NEVER HAD A PUNCTURE OR A FLAT. THe rear tyre was, I thought, worn. So I got the shop to change it. The guy said the new tyre wasn`t as good as the worn original . . . so it went back on. I haven`t seen any tyres like mine locally. They`re foreign of course. . . .

First carbon build. I had thought about trying the whole weight-weenie thing, but the budget said, "no." It's a Deda Nero Corsa frame branded Ciocc (as far as I can tell the only thing Ciocc is the paint job) from sometime between 2006 and 2010. Alloy Campy Athena, various take-offs from other bikes. Came in at 18.6 lbs. on the road (with pedals, bottle cages and saddle bag). Not as fast on the flats as my steel bike, but climbing is oh so much easier.

This is my daily bike. It's lugged steel 1986 Spalding purchased at Sears back in '86. the first pic is what it looked like just after assembly. The 2nd pic is with a few mod's and 28 years + riding.

This is a Recent complete rebuild of a 1981 Fuji Royale. All components are (as far as I know) true to early 80' Fuji's. I'll add more info later, but that's all for the pics.

Had all three of these up for sale but decided to keep them a bit longer, just need to find time to ride.

One of these just turned up on local CL and I've been toying with the idea of picking it up as a project bike. I was going to ask how you like yours, but I guess if you've kept it 28 years and you're still riding it you must like it a lot.

The red bike is a steel Nashbar CX I picked up in December 2014 for $694.00 shipped and it is very comfortable.
