True. But until the charging thing is worked out, they won't be supplanting IC-powered cars.

This is true. I've always said that I would never own one as my only car.

Taycan - 8.9hp per pound (apprx)
CaymanGTS - 8.6hp per pound (apprx)
Cayman was the more fun driver.

Climbing that part is ok but descending you have to be careful to not cut a tire. I've never had a problem on it but some do.
Near the bottom of 39 there is an off-road park so sometimes there is traffic with trailers. The rest of the road is light most of the time. The other thing is when descending there are 2 small climbs near the bottom. Not a problem unless you are toast from the way up.
Some people make a loop by starting at the bottom of 39 then riding over to the bottom of the 2, then climb the 2 and descend the 39. I've done that over the years and had a glorious time. One time I had my worst bonk ever when I tried to ration water on a hot day.
The there's the Circle of Doom. A race limited to 100 riders which does the loop the other direction with some adds. 9500 feet in the timed 75 miles. Put on by Rahsaan Bahati.

A friend of mine does the Circle of Doom for fun a couple times a year. This guy also does 100mi MTB rides with 15k-17k' of climbing - solo and unsupported.

My friend is one of the strongest riders I know - always has been - but he never did much racing. He was part of our relay team for a 4-man 24 hour MTB race in Idyllwild about 20 years ago. During a night lap, his light went out, and he still finished his lap in a faster time than most of the other competitors. His 19yo son is a beast, too. EDIT: He's kind of like Will Z - born to ride bikes.
Personally, I've never been north of East Fork on Hwy 39. Not sure why. Probably my mediocre relationship with climbing.
I've never gone past East Fork on Hwy 39

A more convenient number is hp/ton (or hp/1000lbs). Higher is better, and numbers well above 1.

I managed to sleep until 5 this morning. Garmin gave me a decent Body Battery (62 - better than most days the last couple of weeks) but with crappy HRV. Was desperately trying to wake up with my jet fuel coffee but feel like I never did.
Of course, did 80 minutes on the trainer, with three tempo efforts.

I've only descended it once in wet-ish weather. I try to be careful. I have followed a woman friend who tucked and hit 50+mph. I don't even try to do that.

I may not be cut of for cycling. I am perfectly happy with a big steaming mug of drip-machine brewed Major Dickason's Blend, and feel no need for an espresso machine.

Tomorrow's forecast. The C&V ride is scheduled for 10 and generally takes till about 1. Ma Nature seems laser-focused on causing a 4th cancellation in as many months.
