The MapMyRide app might have settings in it for weight etc I don't know. I know it does all sorts of things like elevation, speed, weather, uploads to who knows where, sharing etc, but I don't use it for that. I don't even use it for the map function really because I do the same circuit every day. I really only use it to track total distance and time. Given that my average speed is relatively the same every day and my distance is also relatively the same it's not surprising that the calories burnt is also relatively the same. It claims I burn about 1400 calories an hour, maybe things like speed, changing elevation and weather are enough for a calorie count, I don't know but I also don't worry too much because I'm not counting them.

I'm not really interested in tracking my heat beat and stuff (I might be too shocked!) but it's interesting that programs like MapMyRide etc can tell me how many calories I've burnt without knowing my weight, size or how much effort I'm really putting into peddling. Obviously I believe the calories count and live by it, but it does make me wonder why they put it on there when it has to be inaccurate in so many cases.

My post was entered at the same time as yours, DeadSlow, and is now obsolete since you posted yours a minute earlier. Thanks a lot!

Wow is that really a thing? I have the power to make people, I mean their posts, obsolete?
I never knew I wielded such power!
All bow before me
Oops that last line was suppose to be in my head!
I don't even weigh myself usually, a few weeks ago when I started breaking spokes was the first time I'd weighed myself in about 10 years. I used to have a stationary bike, a 20 year old MTB on a stand that I peddled flat out for about 7000ks over about a year. I was riding it for at least an hour every morning and with zero resistance I was peddling at about 40kph. I did start loosing weight and I got a really sore bum because it was a terrible bike and I stubbornly refused to spend any money on it. But when I started checking my weight regularly and pushing myself to a distance limit every day it became so much like a chore that I ended up throwing the bike in the shed and forgetting it. One day I might start doing this cycling thing for real world figures but right now there is more enjoyment in it for me if I don't sweat the small stuff.

I became a little concerned over my max heart rate of 185bpm , back on the 18th .
I figured I needed to monitor it a little better , now that I have the Apple Watch.
I set a max of 115bpm for myself and I’ve been keeping an eye on it , especially when climbing .
Today I hit a max of 109bpm with an average of 98bpm .
From what I’ve read , for my age , that seems to be about right .
Of course my average speed is going to suffer . I can’t jump on the bike and knock out a 3-5 mile ride like I used to .
That’s ok, if it keeps me on the bike .
I will discuss it with my cardiologist, but my six month checkup is in August . That’s , hopefully, a lot of miles between now and then .

Broke 200ks for the month today and clocked over 800ks on the bike with about 5 days to go until it's 4 months old.
Today I did 30ks of back roads and highways, a lot more hills than I'm used to and a lot stepper hills than I'm used to.
I have worked out that I need to adjust the rear derailleur for the two biggest cogs because the chain wont stay on them, but I also broke no spokes again so touch wood this new rim is worth having.

The spikes in heart rate on my Apple Watch is not an accurate reading from what I’ve read .
When riding my bike with my wrist broken , if the watch slips down into the bend , the watch can give a false reading .
I need to tighten the band and keep it up my arm away from my wrist while riding .

Haven't ridden for a few days due to weather, work, but mostly a nasty cold that I picked up early last week. Feeling much better now. Hoping I can hit 250 miles before the month is over.

Another 27.84 km this morning, I was about 0.5kph slower today than I have been lately but I also tried a little bit of different circuit with a few more hills. I know the roads well enough in the day time but I probably took it a little more careful than I needed to in the dark, probably a good thing too because I also got chased by a little dog on one of the up hill slogs.Lucky he only had little legs and couldn't keep up!
So far now for April I'm up to 228ks and another day without a broken spoke. Although I did find out today that my speedo is about 10% out compared to Google and MapMyRide. My guess is from new it was set up with the wrong wheel size and I've never taken much notice of it because I've used MapMyRide since day one. Since the bike shop didn't give me any instruction with the speedo when I got it I'll go and hunt the web for an instruction manual and see what I can change. Doesn't change much for me if I can't change it but it does mean that the 830(ish) kms I'd done since new is actually closer to 910kms

I’ve gone back to riding my thirty year old Schwinn Cross Cut . It is , and always has been the best , and easiest riding bike in the stable . Especially with the upgrades I’ve done on it .
