ebay is the best place... its a 1" threadless, which is probably one of the reasons its so rare.... its called the "alter" and you can get pin-up inserts for the top of it hehe, and if all these unusual almost random things wasnt enough there is a hole in the middle to put your front brake cable! Its definately my favorite threadless stem.
Very nice. I have the Cinelli Groove( below, silver) on my Pinarello, and like it a lot. But had I known about the Alter.....

Not to sound like a lech (( try to keep it a secret!), but where does one get the pin-up inserts? For a friend, you understand.....

i think the idea of the pin-up inserts is hilarious, I mean it basically puts it in the perfect spot to look at when you are on the bike. I am surprised an idea like this was ever able to make it into production with such a large and prestigious company like cinelli haha

Before: $25 impulse buy from eBay
After spending a lot of money and having a good time doing it:
Before: impulse $10 buy from eBay
After a new paintjob and a thorough cleaning of the bike:
Front fender has a bad dent so I left them off. Rear brake has been added. Still waiting on new wheelset.
Before: JC Penney's finest
After some good cleaning and new paintjob
well, a new saddle, pedals and handgrips from Wal-mart.
Before:
After: so far
a fellow alleycat racer has expressed an interest in this bike. I just might let it go.

It's orange, has gum hoods and white wrap, and has checkers on it. That's all it takes for me!! Gorgeous, makes me want to buy some checkered vinyl for the top tube of my Falcon.,,,,BD

I posted this one in the COTD thread, but I have a nice set of "before and after" pic so I thought I'd toss em in here, too. A late 80's Centurion Cavaletto in disrepair, that I converted back to a road machine with a triple drivetrain. It came out very well:

Here's a before and after on my Shogun Alpine GT. Stripped to bare metal and repainted. The wheels were changed from the hybrid 700's to some Sun M-13II's from a hopped up Denali. Turned out really nice I think.,,,,BD
