Seems like folks love to put roadies down on this forum, and hold this sanctimonious attitude like their crap doesn’t stink. These are usually the same people shouting “steal is real!” and going on about how they just love their friction shifters and cantilever brakes.

We all have our preferences and tastes, yet it seems like roadies get trashed for theirs.
Boy is this a leap! What do steel frames, friction shifters and cantilever brakes have to do with littering or even CO2 cartridges? I have never seen "roadie" CO2 cartridges, and warnings on them not to use on bikes with steel tubes. Get a grip.

Not a lot of tornadoes in New England, but I am reconsidering my habitual ride on Tex Avery Boulevard.

Is it? Should society change that? In some places they do have laws against littering. Leaving a cartridge somewhere surely falls under that?

Anyway, it's the little things that matter, right? Indeed it is. It is in the little things where people go "whatever, not my business, not a big deal" that we can see humanity's depravity.

It's a little known fact that all of those are produced by the Susquehanna Hat Company on Bagel Street:

its science. I mean, watch a cartoon for heavens sake!
You know, I once brought the plethora of banana peels up at a meeting of the Humboldt Bay Bicycle Commuters Association, and all I got was wide-eyed denial that anyone on a bike would drop banana peels on the shoulder rather than pitch them a couple of feet to the right onto the grass. It must be homeless people, they said. I have no direct evidence, but I remain skeptical.

Ya. where I live, it's beer bottles and cans. It's their way of recycling.

Guy on "F-Troop" was not a real Indian either.

Frank de Kova (March 17, 1910 – October 15, 1981) was an Italian-American character actor in films, stage, and TV.[1]

Totally off-topic, but I'm Jewish, and a fun game to play with Italian people is name all the Jews playing Italians and all the Italians playing Jews in The Godfather movies.

Or Jews playing Indians like Mel Brooks in Blazing Saddles. I just re-watched the movie recently, and was rolling on the floor when this scene came on:

"No, no, zayt nisht meshuge! (Don't be crazy!) (Raising arms to the heavens in stereotypical Indian pose): Loz im geyn! (Let him go!) Cop a walk, it's alright. Auf wiedersehen.(Goodbye.) Take off! (To other Indians): Hosti gezen in dayne lebn? (Have you ever seen such a thing?) They darker than us! Woof!"

I love my steel touring bike with cantis, and I keep the rear in friction mode. Anything else is fake, and I never steal.

So you gave up on Shimano hoods too, and went with Tektro. I don't think Shimano will ever get the memo on how tiny and uncomfortable their standard hoods are.

Looks like a nice day out there, great climbing weather.

It's not just cyclists, I still see drivers throw bags from fast food places out the window.

I think its like the space debris we left on the moon... Sure, NASA (and cyclists) could haul back empty fuel and food and CO2 containers, but that costs energy and calories! So they leave it behind.

The hoods came with the brakes, which came with the bike. The photo is from last year. I cancelled my western tour for this year. Too many what ifs.

I think one of the worst cases if not the worst case of using a stand-ib for an actual Indian was the movie GERONIMO starring Chuck Connors as Geronimo. There you had a 6'+ white gut playing the part of a 5' or so tall Indian.

Some day I'd like to take a bicycle tour through the area that Geronimo lived in.

Cheers

I would put the 1965 Omar Sharif movie Genghis Khan way up there. Except for Genghis Khan, all of the Asian characters were played by Europeans. His wife was a blonde-haired French.

Maybe your county just doesn't have very high standards? I'm sure C02 cartridges agent the only things littering the roads there.

It gets worse. Some Iranian friends of mine told me about this one, they thought it was hilarious. I had never heard of it. John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

I found a CO2 tire inflator with a half empty cartridge attached on the local bike trail a couple of months ago. Finders keeper.
