We had a rare day of summer in early March yesterday -- clear skies and warm temperatures. I went for a ride from Hillsboro out around Hagg Lake with @gugie and @vitaly66.
Vitaly rode his 1982 Trek 730.
Gugie in uncharacteristic fashion brought out the skinny tires (700x33.333) on his Lotus Classique.
And because the weather was so perfect, I let my garage queen Pinarello Montello out to play.
We had great views the whole day, but I only got a couple of scenery shots.
I had time to take that one while gugie and Vitaly practiced the fine art of the tire change.
Eventually we made it to the lake. This is actually one of the less scenic views on the perimeter road, but it had the advantage that it was a place where we were stopped.
I took the opportunity to check out gugie's SunTour Command shifters.
Finally, we made our way back toward Hillsboro.

I was not sure if @Andy_K was really on this ride. Someone with short hair and a trimmed beard seemed to have stolen his chrome Pinarello. I forgot to take a picture of the imposter. At some point during the rehydration ritual I looked the other way and Andy snuck in. I could tell it was him from the elk burger and beer he ordered.
Damn fine day for riding. It's great to wipe your face after finishing a ride and feeling dried salt.

A Special 35mi ride today.
1st ride of 2018 in shorts,
1st 70*F day of the year,
a good riding companion
AND the Harding/Holdsworth Special with 30f/33r mm tires.
Most of the ride on good crushed stone rail-to-trail.
Snoqualmie Valley Trail - North Bend to Carnation.
(disclaimer - it was soooo nice the pic is from a different day)

Hey @gugie,
I've heard of cyclists taking the lane but Andy's above pic takes the expression to a new level. Glad you had a helmet!?! HaHa.

Hey, I rode in shorts today for the first time this year, too! I was on my way back from a quick 25 when I heard "Hey, Drillium Dude!" from a cyclist coming from the other direction. I pulled up, he pulled around and it happened to be @JReade on his modern Cannondale (well, 2007 but it looked showroom-perfect) - also in shorts. It was that kind of weather today! Had a quick chat before heading off in different directions. A fairly stiff headwind was present on the way out, so I got to enjoy a faster (no, I don't normally relax with a tailwind) return leg.
I'm glad I've been shaking down the Colnago; been hearing a clicking when pedaling, so it's probably time to re-lube the crank bolts, spindle flats or pedal threads - one of these procedures normally eliminates this irritation.

Got out with an old friend this afternoon. What an amazing day weather-wise.
We stopped at PostDoc Brewing in Redmond for a beer. Now I see in the post above by the dude that I must have seen JReade leaving the brewery while we were having a cold one. Sorry I didn't know who it was at the time

So I get the impression that the weather is very nice out on the north-left coast right about now. Thanks for the inspiration, guys. Our time is coming... 40s this week and I'm taking Friday off.

I took the day off, and decided to ride. 32 miles on a beautiful day in North Texas on the '74 Motobecane Grand Touring.
Cheers!

I took a ride on the Snohomish County Centennial Trail.
Looks like the rain is back.
There were spots where legions of frogs were hopping around on the trail.
I was not particularly happy about this, as it was a sort of reverse Frogger situation. I ended up running one frog over when it suddenly leapt in front of my wheel.

Saddle slippage was definitely unexpected on Saturday, so on my Sunday ride I brought a full assortment of tools. That's really the one thing I don't really like about C&V bikes, is that most of the fasteners are hex nuts...and box end wrenches take up a lot of space!

Thanks! It's a family airplane that I am fortunate enough to get to fly as much as I want

I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier but I've heard that when, yet, another nor-easter is heading up to pound @jimmuller and all, the best plan is to head south. So I did. Went down to Virginia to visit a friend and slid the Crescent Pepita 319 into the trunk.
I rode the W&OD on Tuesday, from Sterling, VA to Purcerville then back (~30 miles). Great ride and great exercise as the trip westward is somewhat up grade and I had 20-25 mph headwinds with gusts to ???. Full sunny skies and 43deg. Wow, was the return trip a hoot! With the favorable grade and the tail winds I was rolling 10mph faster in spots than I'd done westward. On the way west I'd been in it drops about 80% of the time, due to the wind. On the way east I was in the drops a lot just for better control, due to the speed. The Crescent was flying.
Yesterday I decided to come home thru Baltimore and stopped in Glen Burnie to ride the Baltimore - Annapolis Trail (~28 miles RT). Another great ride on my great Swedish lump of a bike. I've never seen anyone here post about the BAT but it's a jewel. Lovely pavement and lovely scenery. The same 20-25mph winds blew from the west but the BAT runs north south and is mostly sheltered from those winds. A very nice ride both directions, even with snow flurries (39deg). When you ride this trail, watch for the Solar System which starts up near the north end. Using a scale of 1 mile = 781M miles the solar system runs along the trail for almost 5 miles via labeled monuments. As a sci-if reader, I was enthralled. Around 4 miles from the beginning you start to wonder about how massive the sun's gravitation must be to still exert some pull on Neptune. Yikes! Another feature that intrigued me was the large amount of bamboo growing along the trail. Evergreen and a good indicator of wind speed and directions. A great trip again. Try it.

Yes, I thought about you. But the fact of the trip even happening and the timing was in play right up to Tuesday morning so I didn't want to call you then change and change and.... Besides, I ride too slowly for you. I did yell "bike, bike, bike" as I swooped down under Rte 15 in Leesburg - with you in mind.

Looking good Matt and Ti. We'll have to get together on a sunny day. I don't have a Brit bike however.
