Damn, @gaucho777, just because some dumb caveman does it, doesn't mean you have to do it, too Maybe we both need to be more careful of what we do when we have only one hand on the bars.

The good news is, a month after wrecking my clavicle, it's healed enough that I can (carefully) ride again (on smooth pavement, no gravel).

The bad news is, judging from the pictures, your clavicle is even more broken than mine was.

Maybe we'll both make it to Cino '24.

ouch! My sympathies. Last X-ray I saw like that was a top ranked sprinter. Hardware to put it together and later removed, this was 40 years ago, so maybe mid evil.

I finally got around to inspecting the bike. I’d say these bars are toast. The left hood got ripped through and I got a small scuff on the nose of the saddle. Otherwise, everything else on the bike checks out.

Ah yes, work. I try not to think about when not there.

But yes, we have all sorts of goodies for inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Sorry, don’t want to derail the thread, but I’m contemplating a last-minute and likely ill-conceived plan to ride Cino. Does anyone have suggestions for hotels in Kalispell? It appears that accommodation in Hot Springs is down to just camping. Any info on the camping conditions? Facilities, overnight bike storage, food storage, bears, etc, etc.
Open to all ideas, thanks.

There are two basic options...1) Stay in Kalispell/Kila area the night before and night after Cino, and stay in Hot Springs on Saturday night; 2) Stay in Hot Springs the whole time and deal with the long commute to and from the start/finish in Kila. I've done both, and this year I'm choosing option 2. There are basically three options in Hot Springs (Alameda's room, Alameda's camping, Symes hotel room). The rooms might all be booked by now so you may have no choice but to camp at Alameda's. Lots of people do it and it seems to be quite a pleasant option. In the Kalispell area, rooms are usually pretty booked and expensive since it is high season. BUT...last year I found a couple of "tiny homes" on airbnb/vrbo that were pretty nice. Look around. I believe that the Kalispell Montessori allows start/finish camping on site in Kalispell and maybe Kila and many people do that. Contact the ride director to find out for sure. There were a lot of mosquitos last year so bring bug spray and a bug proof tent if you do this. There are also VRBO glamping tents near the start in Kila that look pretty good. Good luck and see you there!

Last year they allowed us to stay at the Montessori school on Fri and Sun nights, as davester mentioned. There were only a few of us so we actually stayed inside the building since the mosquitos were so bad (the school is very close to a river). They mentioned that camping there would be an option this year in one of the emails.
Camping in Hot Springs is pretty good. You would be camping on the lawn at Alameda's, which is inside town. There will be porta-potties and you'll have access to a shower. Bike storage shouldn't be a problem, most people leave them out and I've never heard of anything happening. I suppose that since it is MT bears are always a possibility but I have never even considered it happening in Hot Springs and I live in the country. Food storage...I'm not sure, but I have a room there with a fridge so if you need to use it you're more than welcome.

Good luck and see you there!
Likewise! I went to the Alameda website to book camping, saw a room had opened up, and snagged it for 3 nights. Now I need to figure out transportation to/from the start/finish and the airport.

Good to know about the camping facilities— I have both an irrational love for camping, and an irrational fear of bears

panzerwagon I am driving and staying at Symes I can throw trunk rack in the car, soo you could get to the start and back with me. I will be doing Bend to Kalispell that on the 21...so could possibley pick you up or meet up at the registration

only caveat, am dealing with some family stuff (father in law passed away) and there is remote chance I get an audible called on me, but looking less that way and there are others who would help in that case

Cino 2024, revival of the Magic Bus?

Takes care of transport and housing in one swell foop.

I mean, can spooning ever truly be excessive?

I am bummed, but will miss Cino after all. Too much going on with clearing out my father in laws house and other fun things

double bummed as training was going good, and triple bummed for not seeing people IRL

Please help out panzerwagon with transportation as I can't now

and if anyone is looking for a room still, message me and we can coordinate when I cancel my room at Symes so you can grab it

I will still show a registered, not canceling that.... want to support ride as I can

ride bike smile, repeat

No worries at all, I should be able to figure something out, but super bummed that you won’t be able to make it after all.

I canceled my reservation at the Alameda Hot Springs Resort for Saturday night. They may have an opening - if anyone wants a roof and bed and hot springs relaxation that night.
