2014!! How was your commute today?

Had a doctors appointment and there's NO good way to ride there. Just as well - my gear is still wet from the ride home yesterday. That may have been the wettest ride of my commuting career, or at least in recent memory. An hour of steady, hard rain and a headwind. Major yuck

39 degrees ... wind heavy out of the north (a headwind to work), and rain ... I drove today. A somewhat ignominious end to bike to work week

No commute today.
Went outside at lunch yesterday to a flat rear tire. This happens occasionally, but I have slimed tubes and I normally just pull the offending goathead a pump it up and go. Instead I got a lot of hissing. I found the leak through the tire and patched it. Pumped it up and more hissing. I gave up temporarily and went to a meeting.
At the end of the day, I took my time and patched 4 other holes that the slime wouldn't seal. More hissing. I pumped it up in hopes of spinning the wheel to spread the slime and maybe get a seal... BANG! The tube blew.
Due to work I needed to do and my wife being unable to come soon, I got home too late to get a new tube. All in time for Bike to Work Day today. My first missed commute in months.
Argh!

Wet and cold, 5C/41F, headwinds for much of the ride, gusting to 43kmh/27mph. Warmer this afternoon of 10C/50F with rain still but less wind. Forecast for up to 60mm/2.5in of rain between tonight and tomorrow night. However, the long weekend forecast looks sunny and reasonably warm. Victoria Day weekend in Canada is the closest Monday to Victoria Day, May 21: it also is known as "May 2 4" weekend, referring to the first potentially warm weekend of the year in which people buy and drink cases of 24 beer, "2 4s".

Extremely humid this morning, turning into drizzle at some points. I hope I beat the rain home, but I brought my plastic bags..err...shoe covers just in case.

Overheard at work today, Tim Horton's, the most popular coffee/donut shop in Canada, is not selling the "Boston Creme" donut today because Montreal beat Boston last night.

Uneventful but pleasant ride today. Noticeably higher humidity. Thursdays are my long-ride home day. I'm trying to increase my mileage to get ready for a trip to Wyoming this summer, so I'm squeezing in extra miles whenever possible. Tomorrow is Bike to Work day in the DC area and the forecast is for 100% chance of rain in the morning. I'm a fair weather cyclist so my plan is to get up early and get ready and then hope the rain is on the lighter side, in which case I'll ride. I missed so many BtW days in the past for various reasons, and now that I have done it 3 years running, I really don't want to miss it.

Nice morning, sunny with a big big tailwind, best time of the year so far in 52 minutes but this as nothing to do with the tail Wind...
Incredible win last night by the Montréal Canadiens to send the Bruins on vacation, the whole province is going crazy. Next stop: New York Ranger, another great original 6 serie. Leafs fan are jealous...

My ride in today was beautful; I tried to capture the beauty of the full moon; heck, nothing is like being there. Riding home is going to be a scorcher.....102. That's pretty warm here.

Great commute the last few days. I do not like heat having grown up back east, but this weather is nothing. This is perfect! I had a great view of the Island a few days ago over the Canada line pedestrian crossing and there was a nice breeze, smiling commuters, tugs moving logs and goslings. Of course Victoria Day in BC always leaves a bit to be desired.
@arsprod
I remember a commute one morning in a deluge, I was soaked within minutes of leaving. Then almost at work a truck and I timed a puddle crossing just right. I got hit with a seemingly 5 foot high wave. I felt like I have just been surfing and flushed around in the surf. I was spitting water out, water water rushing off my face. It was crazy. Just a wow moment of disbelief that I was able ot get more wet.

Was raining when I started this morning, but after the first 6 miles it stopped. Just TONS of puddles. In hinsight, I probably should have taken my XC mountain bike today and left the road bike at home. Oh well, bike to work day tomorrow.

Oh my.....wind, rain, more rain, more wind, and then repeat. For Bike to Work Day I may end up being one of only a handfull coming in by bike.
At one point I was closing one eye at a time to stop the stinging rain.

in a word: wet
47° F, steady rain.
I was about 4 miles away from home when I recall thinking, "cr@P, my feet are wet.."
However, once you get wet, you may as well finish the ride.

I did not ride yesterday due to the rains. It was just enough that it wouldn't have been much fun.
But this morning was back to cool spring temps. I think 50F must be the perfect temperature for cycling. I have a decent hill in the first mile of my ride, so that gets me warmed up enough to not be cold. With the sun shining and everything so green, I could have kept on riding all morning.

This morning was beautiful; clear and cool. I tried a little route change through the hood to cut out some highway and it worked just fine. Same time and average speed with less traffic.

Nice ride this morning with a little nip in the air due to a cold front that rolled through the area yesterday. The front brought massive amounts of rain and flooding, and I wisely decided to drive. We had 3.5-6" of rain across the area, with many low spots and bike trails flooded.

Cool, 4C/39F, but at least no rain or much of a wind. However, I was tired and, despite the tailwind, I felt like I just plodded along.

Worn out tires, a heavy downpour and gusty winds this morning meant driving in on National Bike to Work Day.

chilly (43F) and wet, which certainly tempered bike to work day - more people at city event than I expected though

Awesome spring weather, at 45° a little cool but I'd rather be somewhat cold in the morning with shorts and jersey than have to carry extra home in the afternoon.
A first time experience this morning: confused squirrel charged me and bounced right off my right ankle! I never saw him, just a flash of brown in my peripheral vision then something soft and furry hitting my ankle. I think he bounced off the back wheel also, poor guy, but he escaped injury.

Wet! but I wanted to ride on BTW day. I waited until a lull in the rain, and left home quite late, around 8. Of course the rain picked up right away, but I discovered a few things: I won't melt in the rain; my rain pants are great; my rain jacket is okay; and I still had a nice time! I knew my shoes would be a problem, but they are drying out okay. Just after the pit stop, I made the mistake of riding on the Georgetown waterfront right before they closed it. I rode through a foot of water, which completely soaked my feet and the bottom of my pannier. Oh well, another lesson learned. Just before Georgetown, I noticed water overflowing from a manhole on the Capital Crescent Trail, and I just heard on the radio it is closed once again, due to the fear it might be sewage. When I rode through it, I only saw water. Yuck! Now I have to find another way home, but since the sun is out, that is okay.
