Decent Deal

If this shifts and brakes alright, is this a decent deal? I'm not really familiar with the vintage components and bikes, but a friend is looking for a step thru frame and this looks like a nice ride to me. $300 seems a little high for a bike this old, but it has newer wheels and tires.

Windsor Competition Bicycle - $275 (Peabody)

Date: 2009-11-03, 4:06PM EST
Reply to: sale-vnf7h-1450046673@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Year of Manufacture: 1979-1980
Model: Competition
Frame size: 23"
Speeds: 10
Tubing: Columbus DB
Suntour forged dropouts
Campagnolo Headset and down-tube shifters.
Avocet Racing 11 saddle
Chrome lugged head tube
Sugino crank
Thin profile chain
Serial #11363

This is a Mexican made copy of an Italian Cinelli. Good workmanship. The lugs and seat stays looked like Cinelli's top models. I don't race anymore. This is a good deal for someone looking to get into racing cheap. Needs brakes (I removed them to install on another bicycle). Shifts flawlessly.

I was thinking of going to take a look at this myself. It has been posted before for the same price. Might be able to get it a little cheaper being the off season but it looks worth the $275 to me.
Anybody have one of these Mexican beauties?

Mountain Bike and schwinn 10 speed - $100 (LAWRENCEVILLE,NJ)

looks innocuous until you read the description:

IRON MAN MOUNTAIN BIKE. TITANIUM STEEL SRAM SLANT P PERFORMANCE. EXCELLENT CONDITION. ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.

CALL 609-815-6344

SCHWINN 10 SPEED PRELUDE BIKE GOOD CONDITION

---

based on the fact that the seller is hot on the low end MTB, I am sure that one can have the "10 speed" Prelude for $40 or so, a steal any way you look at it (if the frame is intact)

I like the way you think, Ejust!

And +1 on the Super Course mixte above. Not cheap, but it was a very nice mixte to start, about as good as they come, and it has been treated to some fine upgrades. The Miyata 210 I posted about on the previous page went for about $275 on ebay + shipping (possibly) for the sake of comparison.

That Supercourse looks like a decent deal. More than I'd want to spend but it's the only 531 mixte you're gonna see for a while and it looks to be well built.

Centurion road bike for sale. Lugged steel. Aluminum fork. Campy 8 speed shifters, front derailleur and long cage rear derailleur. Those alone are worth the price!

Seat stays are ugly, as I started to strip the frame and re-paint it. Changed my mind and clear coated over it.

Front chainrings are 48 tooth and 36 tooth. Great gearing for commuting.

Can e-mail more pics.

Reply to: sale-exw73-1451121304@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

1981 Miyata 110. 10 speed, Large 25" frame built with Cr-Mo tubing. Just overhauled and repacked Headset Bearings and Bottom Bracket bearings. New brake and shifter cables and housing. New tires and Tubes, fresh brake pads.

Comes with a very cool Huret odometer which works perfectly. Frame has dual attachment points for Fenders and a rack.
This bike is ready to ride and needs ZERO maintenance.

Will consider trades for interesting bike parts.

atala

is it worth for $250?
seller said ampagnolo rims & crank suntour shifters and derailleurs...and campagnolo brakes...etc.

sheldon brown said they are not rare...As a smal word of caution, don't be terribly excited buy seemingly ornate lugs with cut outs on some Atala models. Such frames are very common and not terribly unique or desirable. In Italy, they are everywhere - even on the typical commuter bike....

what do you guys think? Thanks!

A very cool bike on ebay. Mike Howard/Brian Baylis built Wizard, only 85 ever made. Tiny size, would never fit me, but looks good in green. I'm kind of surprised the price hasn't gone higher. Maybe there'll be a spike towards the end. Though I guess not that many people would be interested.

Yes, that Atala looks to be worth $250, if it's in good shape. It looks good from here.
