Yeah, we had a pretty nice ride, not too strenuous, but that was on purpose because my legs were still tired from yesterdays ride which had some hills on the route.

WRT the thing hanging off the drive side of the bike, it pains me to admit that the Davidson does have a derailleur on it. At least it is a Sach/Huret Duopar Titanium. I'm going to be installing a SRAM S7 hub onto the Fiorelli to see how suitable it is for tandem use. If it is successful, it is possible that a Super 7 may make its way onto the Davidson. I would probably redo the drivetrain so that the chain is driven entirely off the right side of the bike since I wouldn't have to deal with multiple chainrings. It's not something I'll be doing any time soon, if at all, as I have far too many projects in the queue at the moment.

This was actually a ride from yesterday, but I didn't see this thread until now. Not a long ride, but it's the side of the bay I don't visit very often and this was an entirely new spot for me, so here it is. I didn't actually ride on or even near the tracks, I just climbed up there for a better view.

Fine weekend weather in the PNW. Friday evening MTB ride after work

On Saturday, I drove down to Olympia to check out a potential bike purchase (didn't pan out) and ride with some locals on their fixed gear ride only to find out just that week they switched over to geared bikes for the season. Oh well, in spite not being 'dressed' for the occasion I had no trouble fitting in with the group. I only regret peeling off early to go look at that bike I was interested in. Nice area for riding.

Jim, You may know I work in Harvard. I commute on 110 and do lunch time rides through Ayer. At least on weekdays there are a huge number of trucks going on 110. Tough getting from Concord to Ayer without a least one or two big hills.

Thanks, and I'll PM you after I type this. I live in Fairhaven, but I still haven't ridden much on Chuckanut Drive. The high traffic and narrowness is a bit intimidating! However, the interurban trail follows along Chuckanut for a few miles and still offers some great views, so that's one option, at least at the beginning of the road. I'm planning to ride down to the tulip festival near Mt Vernon before the end of the month, and I think I'd like to take Chuckanut there.

Today's ride was only 25.75 miles, a recovery from yesterday. Cozy back roads in Concord, Carlisle, Acton, Billerica. Cool weather but light traffic!

My ride today was...humbling. I haven't been riding very much for a couple of years now, mostly just running errands around town and even then I usually walk. The ride I posted pictures from the other was only about 14 miles, but with no real hills, so it was pretty easy, even with my being out of shape. Today I made a loop that's only 12 miles, but it starts out with a horrible, wretched hill. I've never made it all the way up this hill without walking, and today was no different. I've never been a good climber anyway, and after the hill I had to stop and rest while fighting the urge to vomit. Now I've had a tickle in my throat ever since. After the initial rest, there's another long but not especially steep climb and then a fantastic decent. The long climb didn't bother me much, but by that point my legs were cooked. All in all, I'm glad I did it. My Univega performed nicely, even if I didn't. I really think if it hadn't been for that initial hill I wouldn't have had any trouble. No pictures from today, unfortunately, but here's the lake where I stopped to rest:

I know what you mean about a ride humbling you, that's for sure. There's a hill that I would like to take on one of my rides and on a couple of my bikes I can make it (the Peugeot and Cannondale), but with the Norman I've been doing most of my road rides on lately, the gearing is a lot taller and I am unable to go the entire distance up the hill. I've taken to riding up as far as I can make it and then turning around, bombing down the grade and heading on the ride. It works well enough and I can tell my legs are slowly getting stronger. I figure that I'll eventually ride the entire hill, if I keep pecking away at it. Hopefully, you'll be in a condtion to ride up that hill before you know it!

Nice bikes! I'm hoping that I can continue to ride frequently so that I'll become more fit. I don't own a car since I moved here eight months ago, but during that time I've mostly walked everywhere. And for me, walking isn't nearly as tiring as cycling, but of course I also don't go nearly as far.

That is a very pleasant lake. Incidentally, and if anyone cares, the first picture was taken with a film camera and the second digital. The film camera is an Canon AE1 Program and the film I used was Kodak Ektar 100. Here area couple more shots of the lake, both of these are digital, though.

Easter day,
I finished a build for my wife yesterday, a 94 Bianchi Premio that had a total of 0.3km of miles, like new. I added a riser bar, tall stem, a lovely woven backet, converted over some brakes and top mount thumb shifter. She is overjoyed. So today, we hit a local rail to trail, and had a lovely Easter ride.

Rode a 130km rail trail today riverton to clare and beyond, funny about that with my back problems I cant walk more than 1km and cant stand in one spot more than 10min's.

I have heard of the Barossa Valley, but haven't seen picture of it until these. It looks like some very handsome country, that's for sure. You're racking up some nice mileage on your bicycles, too.

I've lobbied once or twice to get this stickied, but the loser threads persist. "Where in the world is C&V?"....... who really cares? The "ISO and For Trade thread parts 2 and 3" should be moved to the "For Sale" sub-forum, and the facilitators thread should get ditched, too - If you need something facilitated, start a new thread asking.

Of all things sticky, it seems to me that how we actually use our bikes would be the most interesting. And according to views and replies, it seems it is.
