Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe, but of course my Habanero contact says that's a really bad idea.

Agree there are options out there. Top considerations are Seven or ENVE. But these are merely considerations ATM.

Are you anti SRAM? AXS is fantastic

I am willing to consider it, although I believe that Rival AXS does not support rim brakes.

SRAM Force is an option and has rim brake option. Red is too much $$$ and updated version coming out soon likely to not support rim brakes.

I would do Force shifters, Rival FD, Force RD, Force crank.

I think the shifters can be had for $250 a pair

Thanks. I am not in a rush, but next time I have yet another broken RD cable I may reconsider.

This car selling thing really tests my patience.

Every time I decide to sell something and create a listing, my attitude shifts towards "I want this gone now."

Had an offer that's within a few hundred dollars of what I feel to be my lowest price and I'm already thinking of trying to make a deal with the guy.

The ad has been up for less than 24 hours and mentally I'm already willing to take my lowest price

And, then I walked out to go to lunch only to find a note from the guy stuck in the door saying he quit.

Sometimes the first offer is the best offer.

Never tell anyone your lowest price that you'd take. Everyone knows that you can always pay less than that price. The question, "What's the lowest you will take?" should be answered with "What's the most you will pay?"

Haven't told anyone what my floor is, it just so happened that he offered $200 below. Since it's a decent offer considering the amount of rust on the thing I'm very tempted to take the offer and run to the bank.

I hate selling anything. Cars, bikes, anything. Last car I sold was 9 years ago when I sold the S10 Blazer I had for 18 years. I would have given it away if I knew someone who wanted it. Some guy saw it sitting in my yard and asked how much I wanted for it, I said $500. He came back a couple weeks later with $500. That was the easiest one.

My LBS sold some bikes for me. I just dropped them off and later picked up the cash. Didn't have to deal with anyone.

I bought a truck with a camper shell and I didn't want the shell so I advertised it in the "free" section of craigslist. OMG the people who call for something free are worse than those who are buying. People were calling daily and harassing me about it. Finally someone came and got it.

There's some developing along the bottom edge of the cab. Paint missing & bubbling at the edges of body panels.

Frame is pretty crusty - anytime I did anything underneath I would wear safety goggles to keep rust flakes from falling in my eyes but I don't think it's in any danger of snapping in half.

Big bikes will bring back rim brakes in 2025-2026. They are waiting for all of the hold outs (datlas) to make the switch, then some pro team will show up with all rim brakes and new scientific evidence that shows feather weight and aero is faster than just being aero. Just like that Datlas new bike will be obsolete.

You heard it here first.

Speaking of selling things. I have a Squire Jaguar modified bass for sale now for months. Thought it would sell fast. Just keep getting messages asking how it’s modified. Face Palm. I suspect most of them are bots.

Nah, next thing is wireless/hoseless braking. There will be a little receiver on each caliper that controls the pistons. No cable or hose weight.

You heard it here first.
