Today and yesterday I can't help but feel "off". Not by any one thing, but a handful of small, stupid things. Even though:
- I got over my hesitation/fear of a silly trail feature on my local singletrack
- been able to ride lots
- got my boy riding singletrack (and loving it)
- fixed a flat with substantial ease whilst hot and sweaty
- I'm fitter than last year at this time

Meh. I want my new frame dammit.

+1 on all the Cav comments. The whole situation is a mess, but I agree that he shouldn't have gone for that gap in the first place.

After a 10 mile ride, 2 subway transfers, and a final 1.5 mile uphill walk to my office in 85 degree heat and 80% humidity, I needed this:

Today I went for another ride - well, super early this am. Did 33 miles faster today than I did 30 miles last night. Different route and far less traffic. What a hell of a night. Going to bed because my legs are screaming.

Pretty sure I set a 1 hr PR this morning: 36 w AP, for a grand total of 6.5 (flat) miles. For the record, it is possible to pedal that little without toppling over .

Doubt I went more than 1.5 miles from my front door - just enjoyed a sunny, calm morning and waving to neighbors as they went about their day. You only need to wander a few block from my apt to see some very, very nicely landscaped yards - I always enjoy appreciating that stuff.

My frame that was possibly shipping last week, definitely shipping this week, now *might* ship (to me) next week which means I probably won't have it until like the 19th. Why the hell did I do this to myself?

Is this still that matte green one? HATE the waiting game.

Today I got caught up on a week or two of SS/FG cause I was too busy enjoying the beach and not caring about bikes.

Yesterday I told a bunch of people on bikes what to do and I'm not sure why they listened.

Yep. Was originally told mid-May (I could live with that). At least it's (supposedly) left Taiwan at this point.

Nice! I like the Bianchi. No such thing as too many bikes. Maybe set them for different gear ratios?

..and this is my 46/17 fixed gear, this is my 48/16 fixed gear lol. Where did you get them?

Volunteered this morning at the track from 6-9, helping paint. Going to volunteer at TNR too next week, doing reg. and lap cards. I figure since I'm too lazy to re-do my tubular job on the track wheels I may as well stay involved somehow .

Just being up close and personal with the track like that made me want to race, so maybe I'll get to the tire job sooner now.

today i'm so goddamn sore. i moved all day yesterday. getting set up and all settled in today. 3100 miles so far in the year mixed with a day of climbing flights of stairs didn't do well on my legs.

Today I dragged a longtime friend, and recent convert to The Way of The Bicycle, out to gis first ever 40 mile ride. It was slow going, but he made it.

Took my second ride on Bluechacho (or at least the current working title for the Ultegra Di2 equipped Foundry Chilkoot I finally got finished) That thing is freakin' sweet. Di2 is so much fun, you shift your rear derailleur and the front derailleur friggin micro adjusts to compensate...what********************? Sofa King cool!

I do need to don some lycra and really go have some fun, instead of a backpack laden commute.

Also worth mentioning I did celebrate my birthday last Wednesday...it was pretty chill hung out with friends, ate food and went swimming, after a previous day of partying hearty.

I'm sorry, I didn't catch this until I got my weekly emails...cancer and death in general have really kicked the illusion of my youth out cold. Sometimes you wish that it wasn't such a detached way to learn of it. So much for 'social' media. In the old days I suppose people didn't think everyone knew everything automatically and tended to give you a call.

Even so, we rarely hear about our classmates in several cases, they fly out into the ether and you don't see them at all, maybe a few tidbits in a line or two from somebody that knew the info or heard something.

I hope you can get in touch with his family and talk about the many good times you had. They can help you as much as you can help them.

A warm summer rain is the best weather to ride in! Just make sure your bike is wearing fenders.

^ warm summer rain is better than cold winter rain to be sure, but wouldn't go so far as to call it the best weather to ride in. while it's not the ride that's bad, but the road grime and wet shoes that puts me off.

You know, it's funny. I almost always enjoy myself when I get caught in the rain unexpectedly and just have to power through it. In fact, some of my favorite rides have occurred under precisely those conditions.

But for some reason I'm still hesitant to go out when I know I'll be in the rain. Humans are weird.

Also, yeah, the cleanup is a b*tch.
