Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Gardeners us a map of max expected low temps so that they know what plants will survive. I'm Northwest of Atlanta, just barely zone 7a. They tell me that Atlanta got to -6°f in 1985. The lowest I've seen is 12°f. Everything stops here when it snows. Nobody knows how to drive on the stuff. They don't know how to pre-treat the roads and even if they did they don't have enough equipment or sand/salt to do it.

Arm/leg warmers and UnderArmor base layers came out for the first time two weeks ago. Today I washed all the heavier outer gear in preparation for the upcoming months.

a buddy of mine moved down to atl a few years ago for work and when it snowed like half an inch last year (or the year before? i forget, it was the one that caused nationwide news coverage and shutting everything down) he was having quite a laugh at the chaos that ensued from what we consider a light dusting

ps, wrong thread i think, lol

New shortrange rain bike for me - Yokota Terminator. Still gotta grind the teeth offa one of my olde 52/53 rings to make a bash guard. And find magic ratio. And get freewheel and chain. Broke the bars the other day, replaced with Nitto Promenades.

Short and heavy rear triangle = wheelie machine!!!

Is there a claimed advantage for the elevated stays?
