Today I did 36 miles, was tired and angry for the first 10 or so, so I rode up and down a bunch of hills. I was much happier by the end of the ride. Just shy of 2600' climbing.

I just finished putting together my Ride with GPS report for the Maine Farm to fork Fondo
https://ridewithgps.com/ride_reports...rk-fondo-maine
It was an 87 mike ride with +5000' of climbing. I was the only fixed gear :-) I had a great time. Many of the roads were just paved so it was smooth sailing. I kicked a lot of geared bike butt on the hills and was rewarded with lobster at the end. It was a fantastic ride.
Ride Safe,
Joe

Monday I was evacuated by boat from my house. The water was deep enough the boat pulled right up to my front door and was floating.
All my bikes are in the garage in possibly as much as 5 ft of water or more
Water most likely won't recede for weeks.
I just put new tires on my commuter, too. Argh.

Today I raced my first Cross (and bike in general) race.
I placed 8 out of 41 in the mens 4/5 field on a single speed. Second in the holeshot didn't hurt.
Officially addicted. Racing tomorrow in the SS category.

Way to go @Carcosa! Sound like you've got some aptitude! One of the things that I always found attractive about CX and XC MTB is that on an elite level, it requires both fitness and skill to be successful. Same for track, to a lesser extent, and road, to an even lesser extend .
I consider myself to be a good bike handler/rider. Good balance, coordination and a background in BMX will do that for ya.

Maybe its just me. I don't know.

Pop art isn't the kind of thing I go to museums for, but Warhol did have some really cool work. Nice pics.

^ I can dig it.
Today I raced my second cross race, first time in the single speed category.
Placed 2nd out of 12.
Snagged 2nd in the hole shot and then led for the first three laps before a terribly timed water bottle chug to stop myself from puking gave a guy an opening. Fun stuff. Spent the $10 prize money on a case of beer to share and hand up.

I spent much more time looking at an exhibit of photos of random people shot in New York City and a considerable amount of time looking at religious art, primarily rood screens and altar paintings from the 14th century on. They had a jazz band in the garden and a young guy playing cello who was really entertaining.
The cool thing I learned today is that the High Museum in Atlanta has free admission on the second Sunday of every month.

i think the main thing about the pop art movement (and most art in general) is understanding the context under which it was first created. the ironic thing is that most of warhol's artwork is displayed in ways he was initially mocking. i've seen warhol images printed on just about everything and sold cheaply.

Context is what attracted me to this.
This talks to me personally, at a very human level.
Really enjoyed seeing this again.

Today I witnessed a lady driving the wrong direction on an exit ramp. I managed to miss her, and then had a nice ride through the Mill Stream Run Reservation.
