Seller says it's aluminum, but it must be steel. As cheap as I am, I'd be sorely tempted to spend the $125 on this if I lived in Missouri.

not really, check out the geometry of the bike. It looks like its trying to do the limbo.

This is a wonderful vintage road bike that unfortunately had the bars and seat swapped out. 52 cm center to center with a 54cm top tube. Classy Renolds 531 frame and fork built with Nervex lugs! Original crank (Stronglite), derailleurs and brakes.

Looks like a mid-70s Peugeot UX-10 (PX-10 with 27" wheels). I'm really trying hard to not buy bikes nowhere near my size, so I'm outing this one. Riims should be alloy, but they may be steel from a cursory glance. A bargain regardless.

I would guess that it's a post-1974 model, judging from the "spiderweb" dropouts. I never heard of a chromed Gitane, though. It seems like an interesting find for what you paid for it.
