After 3 years I'm finally upgrading my cheapo walmart bike pump. It worked well enough to put air in my tires, but it leaked so badly that I was burning more calories pumping my tires than riding. I'm hoping the Spin Doctor Pro HP has a good tight seal on it. I know its lame, but I'm super excited to get a new one .

Went on a bit of a shopping spree, early birthday presents to myself:
A nice used Ultegra 6800 Compact crankset 50/34T, $85 on Ebay! Delighted with that deal.
Also some new stainless steel bottle cages from Jenson USA, since the welds on my cheap alu bottle cages broke: $8 each
And a new 11-28 Shimano 105 5700 10spd cassette: $30 on Wiggle

PCS 10 from chainreaction. 3 days from the UK to NZ!
Visited the local specy dealer and picked up a nice saddle for 1/3 the RRP. The sales guy was kinda weird, he insisted on discarding the packaging. Its for my Nishiki commuter but I might try it on my brevet bike too.

A longer seatpost for the Phoenix, and el cheapo LED headlights for the Feida.
I'm really beginning to get what this whole single-speed thing is all about! I mean yeah, the BMX I rode around while I was in grade school in the 1980s was, for all intents and purposes, a "single-speed," but I never really thought about it at a deeper, more visceral, philosophical level until now!

I can honestly say that I spend more on bike clothes in a year than I do normal clothes. Priorities!

Same here, no doubt about it. I'm eyeing a pair of cycling shoes that's got to be 2-3x what I'd be willing to pay for work shoes. And somehow that's quite alright with me

Stuff for long ride on FG bike:
- Hoods - one dummy and one with brake (sacrelige, for which I think I'll burn if I don't repent)
- Bottle cage and adapter for bar mount (goofy, but in a good way)
- These shoes (not cheap as sneakers go, but a bargain at twice the price as far as comfort and effectiveness go)

2016 Scott Addict SL. Swapped the Sram Red for Dura Ace 9000. 52/36 compact, 11-28 rear cassette. Zipp 202 clinchers. Pricey bike, MSRP is $10K or so, I paid about half of that, traded and e-bayed some other stuff against it. This replaces my 2014 Addict that had broken (it's a long story). This new bike does have the higher grade carbon fiber which is purportedly stiffer and more compliant. Combined with the 202 wheels which feature a slightly wider rim width the bike really is very comfortable and a great climber. Very happy with it.
I really like the 52/36 compact better than the 50/34 I had on the old bike, just works better for me in general for a couple of reasons combined with the 11/28 cassette. That 36/28 bailout gear really does help when your legs are toast and the ramps get north of 12%.
Also: they put that Zipp bar tape on this and on my other bike, that's really nice stuff, looks like it will last a long time too.
