Got this one at a yard sale this summer. Lots of rust on the chrome but Barkeepers Friend and 0000 steel wool helped a lot. Didn't have chainguard but I found one from a 24" wheel bike and adapted it to fit. Scanned the tank to get the lettering, then cut a stencil from the printout and airbrushed the lettering on the chain guard.
Have yet to find the missing rear light so I made a reflector plate to fit and the horn diaphram doesn't work (still looking for that too) but the inside was rust free and looked perfect. The light was heavily rusted and works perfect? Go figure.
Wifey rode it once! Says everything is ok but bike is not for her....too heavy! Oh well it was a fun project

Not racing.
That's a very nice restore. I wonder if different gearing would change her perception about the weight.

Wife's not into antiques of any kind!
I recently purchased a larger rear cog for the Schwinn to make it easier to pedal and plan to install it this spring to see if she likes it....if I can get her on the bike.
It's been impossible to get her off her aluminum hibrid...lightweight, 24 gears, super easy to ride and pedal, trigger shifters that she loves, etc.
Anyhow, we've got 45 years in this marriage thing and I don't want to mess it up before it gets started so I don't press the old bikes thing too hard!

Not racing.
She's a pretty strong rider and I've come to the conclusion that her reluctance is more mental than based on reality of weight vs pedal effort. I have a very nice pair of vintage Schwinn 3 speeds (Speedster/Breeze) completely serviced, waxed, and looking good. About a month ago I said let's take em down to the local mup and a nice easy ride and have a picnic. Answer: No thanks, I'll ride the Breezer (thats Breezer as in Joe Breeze, not Breeze as in Schwinn)

THanks. The frames are steel. They ride real nice. Not too heavy at all.

Maybe not the right place to ask this question but how do most people get full sized pictures posted?

Photo Test:
One of the bikes I built from scratch, actually two identical ones:

if you open the picture in flickr, click on Share this Photo, then BB Code, then choose the size, then copy the link in the bottom box. Paste it into the replay area and delete everything on the link on each side of [img] and [/img].
