It's actually great to not be stoned. I mean that's kind of fun for a short while, but ultimately it leaves you feeling tired and spaced out most of the time.
I'd take pain pills again if it comes down to going nuts from pain or being semi-stoned for a couple months, but I hope I never have to take them again for longer than a couple of days.
The only remaining leg symptom is some stasis dermatitis (rough, dry, irritable skin) in the area that was getting those stasis ulcers, but that appears to be improving; I keep hitting it with skin moisturizer, I think it will eventually normalize. That and I have to wear a surgical stocking on that lower leg going forward, but I've been doing that for two years, doesn't bother me, and it's fun getting my balls busted on it in the peloton anyway.
