Remember, a popular place for pick pockets to ply their trade in nineteenth century England was at a hanging....where the unfortunate culprit being hung was guilty of only theft.

What the peloton was is irrelevant. What the peloton is is what drives human behavior.

Speaking of bike riding, I just took my first ride in about 12 months. Just 12 miles, but the ice is finally broken.
I just couldn't get into it when spring arrived this year. I kept pushing the start button but nothing was happening. The urge, the crave - it just wasn't there. I wasn't even missing it, I easily found other things to do.
Looking back I can attribute it to the disruption caused by a major kitchen job we had to do last summer. I was riding up until then, but along the way the chaos just became too much and I stopped. I couldn't even get back into the gym during the winter . . . there was nothing.
But the lack of fitness recently started taking it's toll. Although I only gained 6 lbs it seems they were all around the abdomen, and it there is one thing that will motivate me into action . . . it's a gut. Plus the lyme-damaged knee was starting to act up so I knew that was a cry to strengthen those support muscles and ligaments.
So I've started again. Ahhhhhhhhh, the endorphins . . . . feels great!

anybody who is following Team Sky closely sees an exact reprise of USPS/Discovery From Behaviour (since they are British), to secrecy, to the script that they follow. Richie Porte (a domestique) outclimbed most of the elite climbers today!! That says something. Unless you really believe that they are training harder and better than everyone else.

This being the Couples' Tri, individuals were shoved into general M/F categories, so I got 5th/14. Ugh. Will compare the bike and transitions to my times at the same venue (different swim/ run courses) and see if those, at least, got quicker.
Plus side, looking forward to that date tonight, and may have found a cool tri team.

Good deal Billy! I was off the bike for twenty years, and still haven't figured out why. Good you found it again.

I was on my bike constantly until a crash sophomore yr of college and couldnt afford to replace my bike. Bought a mtn bike 4 yrs later, used it for 6 yrs then stopped riding until 2000. Bought a road bike and rode for a year and put it aside again (don't know why). Started up again in 2008 and now don't plan on stopping.

Herbie linked to an interview with the state prosecutor. It's a 30-min long convo, but yeah, what's in the papers isn't close to the whole story. Not only was the "warning shot" in the direction of her husband (as opposed to pointing up, which most people would assume), but her two boys were also with her husband, leaving the premises, so she shot in the direction of her own kids (this is confirmed by the kids' testimony).

Thanks gents, it's good to be back. Often when one stops their exercise routine it's hard to get going again.
