Recently finished this rehab. This is a very nice ride, and one of Schwinn's best from 1988. Columbus SP/SL, "aero" seat stays and fork. All stock except for wrap, tires, seat and seat post (still have the original post, but it's not long enough for my long legs), 25"/63cm frame. I also changed the cassette, it was a 13/24 and I took out the 14t cog and added a 28t making it a 13/28. Makes hills much more manageable. Still looking for a nice silver, or hopefully white, pair of SPD/SL pedals for it. The Sante' crank's pedal socket aren't drilled completely thru, so you can't use a pedal that requires an allen wrench from the back side. Let me know your thoughts.

It is not hot in this photo.
- Background dominates the photo
- Bike is not oriented with drive-side out
- Cranks not oriented correctly
- Both wheels are not synchronized with valve stems at 6 o'clock - rear wheel is in position by chance, not intentionally
- Remove bottles and storage containers from bottle holders
- Chain must be on big/front and little/rear

I never was a fan of gum wall tires, plus imho, red bikes look great with red tires. Thompson seatpost are my preference, but like I said I have the original, but to get the seat to my height it was well past the minimum insertion point. But I am looking for a set of clipless pedals that work, deciding if I want white ones or silver.

I'm not much of a C&V guy, so if someone would have told me that they were going to show me a Time and a Nishiki and that I'd like the Nishiki more, I would have said they were nuts.... but here we are.
Nishiki = Hot.
Time = Very nice bike, for sure, but the frame is looking a bit dated to me, and not in the charming way.

As for your bike, chrome/shiny is always hot. The brown saddle is iffy now with the move to black.

The Nishiki is hot. Might be hotter with black bar tape and the Conti GP Classic dark gummies. I like the white cable housing and the Turbo. Awesome saddle! Slap it on straight out of the box and go do an all day ride. No break in required.
The Time, unfortunately looks like ever other red/black/white bike out there. There is a sea of them in every brand made. Those, and black on black bikes. They all look the same. Like Army ants marching on towards world domination.

Overall, I really like the lines of the bike. Not a fan of the rims, though. Well, I'm a fan of the rims, I've built wheels with them myself, but I'm not a fan of them on this bike. Too jarring of a difference in aesthetic unless you're going full-on retro frame with modern everything else. I'd also go with either brown/brown or black/black on the saddle and bars.
