Great shape Cannondale classic road bike from 1986 with dura ace components and clipless pedals. I have too many bikes, so it is time to sell one. I love this one, and hope that it will get used often by a new owner!

Original Cannondale logo of train station, which is how Cannondale got its name, from the Cannondale train station in CT.

Recently all tuned up, and hasn't been ridden since. Has been stored inside. Minor scratches to paint and a little fabric fray on back of seat. Needs 1 new handlebar cap.

The ideal buyer for this bike is a collector; the main appeal is the lugged tubular Columbus chrom-oloy frame with a classic look and geometry designed and custom-made for me in the Marinoni factory in Montreal in 1985. I'm 5'7" w/29 1/2" in-seam;
That said, it is not an antique; it is a smooth riding 12 speed (pre-"click-shift") that is incredibly comfortable to ride though the geometry was aggressive for the time. It is also pretty light for a steel frame. The bike weighs 22.5 lbs fully-dressed; not bad for steel..

Campagnolo derailleurs; a numbered gruppo but good at the time
Gipiemme chain-rings, brakes, & hubs. Replaced brake levers & hoods with Shimanos mid-1990's
12-26 Campy (? maybe Shimano) cog. I think those are the specs; I changed it out when I stopped doing triathlons and the riding became more recreational with lots of hills (Montreal).

The frame is completely "true" but paint is definitely chipped & scored here & there.
A project I've planned for several winters was to strip everything off it and have it restored or do it myself.

You are viewing an 1898 Waltham Orient 5 Rider Tandem Pace Racer Bicycle. This recent barn-find that was purchased at an early Hershey meet in the 60's. The serial number is 21008. The bike finish has one red or maroon finish over the original black. The front emblem is in excellent condition. This amazing bike has a most unusual chain design. There is a story of a team of five athletics from UCLA that rode an antique Waltham Pacer from California to Florida. This was in the 50's and this would explain the non-original pieces. The hubs and sprocket are original on the rear wheel. The rim appears to be typical of the 26 inch Whizzer. There are several non-original parts on the bike and I am not the expert so you must rely on the images for this determination or email with concerns.

The following was an excerpt from the book "Collecting and Restoring the Antique Bicycle, "In the course of an event the solo rider would cycle wheel to wheel with his pacers. A star rider would expect five or six changes of pacing team in the course of a mile record attempt, each change-over to be executed with the greatest of skill".

This item will need to be professionally crated. Our local crating and shipping company is Orange County Crating. This crate will be approximately 14 feet long, 3 feet wide and 4 feet tall. This bike has less than 200 miles on it. Original tires and chain and show no wear. Bearings have been rebuilt, bearings cleaned and re-packed in grease. Bike has been waxed and polished.

This bike was made with Reynolds 531 for a few years in the mid 80's. 1986 had the first Shimano Golden Arrow 105 Groupset. Crank and both wheal bearings are sealed type. Stainless steal spokes and dual water bottle and fender braze ons.
