Nishiki Serial Number Database

Where might I find the Serial number on a Nishiki Meridian, 7000 Series Aluminum Alloy frame. I've looked at the bottom bracket, rear chain stays, all the usual places, can't find it. I believe the bike to be built in the early 90's from a date printed on the rear hub, "1994" that's the only hint I have.

I just pulled the cable guide, not there. Pretty strange, I cant seem to locate it anyplace. Dis Nishiki build any of thse without a serial number?

Beats me. I've heard of other Meridians hiding the number under there. All I know is it's from after West Coast Cycles sold the Nishiki brand to Derby ('89) so it's probably a Taiwanese (Giant) made frame.

I'll keep looking, it's a pretty nce looking bike, has a gray and white spatter paint, nice finish. I've looked every place I've ever found a serial number on any bike. I still have some work to do on it, maybe i"ll find it by mistake.

It is not possible to identify the model with this serial number. It is possible to identify the year of frame manufacture and the country the frame was destine for.
K = USA market
J = year 0, or 1980 year of manufacture.
Probably a 1981 model year.

It will in all probability not be a Giant serial number. Derby dropped Giant as a supplier of bicycles for Nishiki brand in the USA.

I'm building a 1990 Nishiki Ariel, and I'd like to keep it as close to original as I possibly can. I bought the bike as a frame without a front fork. I'm at a point where I'm looking for the fork that fit this bike. It seems there may be a few other bikes that used the same front fork as my Ariel.
the fork is a little odd in that it is staight from the crown to the axel with no curve in the fork legs at all.
I'm a little in the dark about the specifications of this fork and looking for someplace that will list the specs of this fork, ie: steerer tube length, fork leg length and so on.
I have three questions for the Nishiki experts out there,
1, Will the forks from an older Nishiki Cascade, or Raleigh Technium or Diamondback Apex of approximately the same year fit?
2. Will the 26" forks from a smaller framed Nishili fit like forks from a 17" frame fit on a 19" frame.
3. Anyone out there have a fork that will fit?

So going on the basis that everything but the fork is what its meant to be, what would I need to be looking for in regards front cog for the chain, front wheel, seat and tube, handlebar accoutrements and brakes to get this looking like a bicycle and rideable again?

The only component on the frame that may be original is the bottom bracket. To restore this bicycle you will need to find all the components. Before you begin you need to ask yourself "Is this the frame I want to use to restore to a bicycle?" . What ever bicycle you choose to restore, it will take time, patience, and willingness to learn, among other thing. You may want to start a new thread to get assistance from Bike Forum members.

Nishiki Pinnacle 1999 ish?
Here's mine. It hasn't been ridden in a few years so just took it out of my utility room. I'm getting back into road and will likely tune this up to riding shape again too. I got this after I graduated from college so I know when I bought it but don't know if it was that model year or the previous years. This is a solid bike. I love it. I can't fully remember but I believe it's all stock except the tires. I put on a slightly more slick tire for city riding. I may have also put on the handle bar grips as they deteriorated. Thoughts?

Hey guys! having a hard time decoding the serial number of my Nishiki Navajo MTB
Bought in in Quebec, Canada for like 20 bucks, has an English/French "request owner's safety manual'' sticker on the top tube and parts seem to be Shimano Tourney (1992 for the crankset and 1989 for the RD), im just curious about the serial since it doesn't seem to match with any of the other formats, let me know if any of y'all got a similar case

This serial number is for Canadian models and is probably from the time when Norco distributed the Nishiki brand. Several Norco MTB models from this year have similar serial numbers.
I would suggest that the serial number is UCC92 01009031.
The 92 is for the year of frame manufacture and the next digits 01 are for the month of January.
The frame is not from Kawamura in Japan.
