That's a high-dive platform on Olso Fjord... I'm 90% sure I jumped off of that diving board back in '84.

^^ Yeah, the yellow + mud is pretty, innit?

The muddy yellow ass saver fender puts it over the top. 10/10 for gravel style points. Would ride.

I need to go make my bike look like that

They were great on that small amount of light, dry snow. We had more, wetter, snow recently, and they were not good at all in those conditions (mashed potato snow I call it). The treads filled up quickly and became just a big slick. I don't know that I plan to ride that bike so much this winter, and we actually don't end up with soft snow that often (more hard packed snow and frozen ruts on the streets) but if I do want to ride in those conditions probably something like a CX mud tire would be more appropriate. Recommendations welcome.

We had 2 days of rain, but I still really wanted to try out my new wheelset. There's only a 3.5km stretch of gravel in the middle of the ride but it's the steepest part, and when it's dry I can get some tire slip. That whole stretch apparently drained really well and the wet gravel made the section easier to ride. Since it's uphill and slow going, I managed to stay clean.

Me looking northwest with the West Bank to my left. We lived in California many years ago and I've always liked the CA flag.

Elevation profile over distance.

^^^^^What tires are those?.... 2.25 inch pillows?
That's my idea of a gravel bike!

Edit: Looks like 48mm 650b Compass Switchback tires. Bet those are nice.

Nice, I follow Curve and a bunch of the folks associated with it on various social media and their bikes and whole vibe are pretty cool. Definitely would put "riding in the outback" on my bucket list. Especially this time of year when the weather is gross in the northern hemisphere.

A few deer out around sunset.
It got up to 50deg today- little wind and no clouds. Fantastic mid-December day!
